Dear Parishioner,
In the United States today, numerous Catholic sisters, brothers, and religious order priests past age 70 benefit from the
Retirement Fund for Religious collection. Donations to this special collection provide funding for support that helps
religious communities care for senior members and plan for long-term retirement needs.
On the weekend of November 2, all parishes in the Archdiocese of St. Louis will take up the annual collection for the
Retirement Fund for Religious, an opportunity for you to acknowledge the thousands of senior Catholic sisters, brothers,
and religious order priests for their faithful service.
Whether or not we realize it, we are all beneficiaries of the tremendous contributions these women and men have made
to the Church in the United States. Through hard work, prayer, and sacrifice, they built Catholic schools and hospitals,
initiated programs to promote social justice, and ministered to the neediest among us. As I reflect on the dedication of
elderly religious, I remain grateful for the ways they have shaped my own faith and for the tremendous service they have
offered our archdiocese.
Today, many religious communities struggle to care for their elderly members. Increasing health care costs and decreased income make it difficult to provide necessary medical care, costly medications and basic services. Aging convents and other facilities pose additional challenges in terms of safety and handicap accessibility.
You are asked to support numerous important causes in need of financial support. In thanksgiving for all that senior religious have done, please join me in supporting the Retirement Fund for Religious and in praying for God’s continued
blessing on our nation’s elderly sisters, brothers, and religious order priests.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Archbishop of St. Louis

Black and white. Male and female. Rich and poor. In
our world today, we often divide ourselves in distinct
categories instead of focusing on what unites us. These
divisions can lead to discrimination, inequality, and injustice as one group is considered “less than” another.
In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus asserts that such divisions
have no place in the Kingdom of God. Outcasts, sinners, women, those who are poor – all are compassionately welcomed to be disciples.
The author of the Gospel of Luke was a Gentile (nonJewish) convert to Christianity. So one of Luke’s important concerns is to show how Gentiles came to be
included in God’s plan of salvation and among God’s
elect, which first belonged to the Jews alone. The Gospel presents a vivid picture of how Jesus made the Reign
of God present, inspiring his disciples to take the Gospel
message to other lands and cultures. (Catholic Youth
Bible)
Are you still with me? t/j
We heard you! One of the major priorities stated at the Parish Hall meeting was
the formation of a Youth Ministry. The
Parish Council would like to invite everyone to attend a brainstorming meeting
this Sun. October 26 at 3:00 p. m. in the school cafeteria. We want to talk about the formation of our Youth
Ministry. We need to hear from parents, youth and all
interested in building a vibrant Youth Ministry. By attending the meeting, you are not committing to volunteering with the ministry. Please plan on attending and
sharing your ideas.
Sacred Heart will be removing all floral arrangements
from their cemetery beginning the week of November 2,
weather permitting. Anyone who has arrangements they
wish to save, please remove them before then and you
can place them back after the following Sunday. Floral
arrangements will be removed from the monuments as
well as the ground. Please inform anyone you know
who might not see this announcement.
GIVING TREE
Our Giving Tree will be in the church vestibule beginning the weekend of November 2223. Anyone interested in adopting an entire

NAMING CEREMONY
FOR BABIES WHO DIED BEFORE BIRTH
During November the Church traditionally remembers all
those who have passed through death to new and everlasting
life in God’s loving embrace.
On Sunday, November 23 at 7:00 p. m. we will have a special prayer service in church for parents, families and friends
of children who died prior to birth due to miscarriage, accident or other reason.
They are certainly God’s littlest
“angels” and some never actually had a spiritual ceremony
to name them.
The Respect Life Committee is now offering this “Naming
Ceremony” to acknowledge the special place these little
ones have in our hearts and in the hearts of our whole community. Please contact the rectory office at 636-937-5513 if
you plan to attend.
The St. Vincent de Paul Society is seeking a
donation of a small kitchen table and chairs.
If you could donate a set please call Brenda
at 636-931-4185.
Your prayers are requested for the repose of the soul of
Margie Humphrey, mother of Gary (Ruth) Richardson and
grandmother of Olivia Richardson and for Thomas Haukap, brother of Berneeda Steinman of our parish family.
“Whoever sacrifices to any god, save the Lord only, shall
be utterly destroyed. “
Exodus 22:20
Do you put other “gods” before God? If your love of
money, power, status or some personal possession greater
than your love for God? If so, you may want to pay attention
to the scripture reading because you are not going to like the
outcome. The good news - it’s not too late to put God first
in your life.
