Begin bringing your plastic gallon jugs for our Christmas Eve Luminaries
to the Old Fellowship Hall. Rinse them out and discard the tops.
I am participating in the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend to support the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I am running in honor of Magnolia Jane Reed, a 2-year-old cancer patient who is receiving treatment at St. Jude right now. She is also the greatgranddaughter of Janice and Ray Reed from our congregation. As a St. Jude Hero, I have a personal goal to raise $5,000 for the kids of
St. Jude by December 31.
Will you help me support St. Jude by donating today? You can donate on my website listed below, or simply send a check to the school
with my name on the envelope. You can make checks directly payable to St. Jude.
How your donation helps:
•
•
•
Thanks to donors like you, no family ever receives a bill from St. Jude for anything, including treatment, travel, hosing, and food.
St. Jude is working to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90%, by 2020. They won’t stop until no child dies from
cancer.
Treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20% to 80% since it opened 50
years ago.
Please visit my St. Jude Heroes fundraising page and make a donation: http://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/Heroes/Heroes?

Thanks for your support!
Sincerely, Brock Kelly (7th Grader at FUMC)
Dinner plates will be available and donations
will be accepted to offset the cost of the food.
KEEP BRINGING CANDY!
Deadline to register your vehicle: October 23, 2014
Please email [email protected]
or call her at the church (690-8100) to register.
The Prayers and Squares Ministry, a new, developing FUMC ministry promoting
prayer through the use of quilts, needs 100% cotton fabric—big or small pieces in
any color—and men’s dress shirts. Please leave any of these items in the church office. Thank you for your support of this ministry.
Children's Ministry is offering “A Night like No Other”, a
wonderful family Christmas devotion and activity set. Each
set will include an “A Night like No Other” Family Activity
sticks & Tumbler set featuring 48 different activities/
conversation starters for families, “A Night like No Other”
soft cover book, a pair of fun Prism glasses, 4 weeks worth
of devotions and a 16 page activity book that reinforces the
devotions.
These will be available for our families at no cost! However,
to be good stewards of our finances, we are asking families
to sign up to receive a goody bag including all the “A Night
like No Other” items. Sign up sheets will be available in the
Younger Children’s Wing and in the Older Children’s wing.
If you would like to see the kit, we have one available for
preview. For those families with multiple children, additional
tumblers and prism glasses can be ordered!
The deadline to sign up will be November 2 and we will
have them for you before Advent begins on November 30!
LIBRARY NEWS
Leading Lives That Matter
by Mark R. Schwehn and Dorothy C. Bass, Editors
This anthology seeks to make easily available to readers some of the best thinking and writing that
human beings have done over the centuries about the very questions that most trouble human beings
when they wonder about how to lead lives of substance and significance. It offers guidance about who
we should be and what we should do if we are to lead lives that truly matter.
