May God Reward your Great Sacrifice! Sincerely, Fr. Stanley G. 4-587 October 26, 2014 Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, This week’s letter writing was a tough one. I try to relate both the topics of the readings to what is going on around us. Our first reading admonishes us to not only reach out to our neighbors but to welcome them, and if we fail in that, God the Father will be most displeased with us. How appropriate that we hear this reading today as the debate of whether or not we should close our borders from those entering our country from areas affected by this dreaded disease Ebola. I am not equipped to make those kinds of decisions, thank God. However, my first impulse is to close the doors, windows, and everything else, buy hazmat suits, and hunker down in the basement. Oh my gosh, this is scary stuff. Then good sense kicks in. Where and what can we do? We need to draw together and work towards helping out our brothers and sisters who are so suffering. If we were in the same position as those who are living in the Middle East or in African nations wouldn’t we want someone to reach out and help? I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I can contribute in my small way with monetary assistance and prayer. You my dear parishioners, might have noticed that I am a practical man who is concerned about the physical care of our facilities, as well as being present for you to celebrate the Most Holy Sacrament of the Mass or other sacraments as called upon to do. But I want you to realize that nothing, NOTHING, can be accomplished without God’s guidance. The only way to change the world is through PRAYER! There are so many suffering that at times we all are brought down. But recharge yourselves by attending Mass, reading your Bible, and going to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Then we can ask Jesus with a clear and passionate heart for guidance and He will remind us as it is stated in today’s Gospel reading how to respond. “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind….You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:36-39. Yours in Christ Jesus, Fr.
