On a cold wintry night in 1839, God called St. Jeanne Jugan through the person of Anne Chauvin, a poor elderly blind and partially paralyzed beggar. It was through Jeanne’s selfless and magnanimous gesture of carrying the old woman home, placing her into her own bed that the seed of our Hospitalier mission to the elderly poor was born. Pray for the Deceased Edward Cyzewski Jacques Mauch Here in Philadelphia for 143 years the Little Sisters have continued to welcome thousands of elderly, serving them in love with respect and dignity until death as if they were Jesus Himself. His Providential care provides for us “tangibly” through your faithful and generous assistance. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Prayer for Peace Donations may be mailed to: Little Sisters of the Poor Holy Family Home 5300 Chester Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19143 For peace in the world and an end to terrorism and all war, we pray to the Lord. For the protection of Christians in the Middle East, and for the safety of our military serving all over the world, we pray to the Lord. World Mission Sunday All Saints Day (November 1st) is not a holyday of obligation this year because it falls on a Saturday. Mass on Saturday morning will be at 8 am. Being A Christian Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin. God lifts you up, takes you in and washes all the dirt off you, opens you up, reaches deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff—including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc. Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see. Happy Halloween! We plan on making this year’s event as successful as last year and we are requesting assistance from the parish. Join us, it’s really a fun event, so get involved! 153 - 4 Contact the following co-chairs with any questions: Robin [email protected], Jennifer [email protected], Debby Zuccarini- [email protected] “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” MASS OF REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 2ND @ 9:00 AM Matt 11:28 An evening of prayer and reflection for recently widowed adults and those who have lost a loved one.
