During this meeting executive members will be outlining the process for developing plans for the next three years here at Caddies Creek. Parents are invited to join us on this night to hear about the process and have input on the directions that our school might take over the next three years. These will be focused around Teaching & Learning, Engagement & Attainment and School Culture & Values. Selective High 2016- Notes were sent home last week to all Year 5 students outlining the organisation details re applying for Selective High School in 2016. Please note that applications close 17th November and no late applications will be accepted. Also, this year all applications are to be made online only. Full details are available at www.schools.nsw.edu.au/shsplacement. Notes and Money- Just a reminder that all notes and money are to be placed in the collection boxes outside the school office. Public Speaking Competition This week the Stage 2 and 3 Public Speaking Competition Finals was held in the school hall. Two representatives from each class were selected to participate. All finalists had fantastic speeches and performed with enthusiasm and confidence. Every participant can be extremely proud of their efforts and being selected in the top two in their class was a marvellous achievement. These winners will be representing Caddies Creek at the district final on Wednesday, November 12th at Bert Oldfield Public School. Year 3 Winner- Alishba Mirza Year 4 Winner- Kristina Grinko Year 5 Winner - Cameron Legg Year 6 Winner – Laura Bunting Year 3 Runner Up- Banuja Mallawa Year 4 Runner Up- Amrita Gill Mr Stephens – Co-ordinator NSW PSSA State Athletics Over Wednesday and Thursday last week, the NSW PSSA State Athletics was held at Sydney International Athletics Centre, Homebush. Pleasingly, Caddies Creek was represented by 6 students in 2014: Tuliana Kabuyawa (Yr 2), Michael White, Ante Vojvodic, Jake Baptiste (Year 4), Nabarum Tamang (Yr 5) and Jarrod Henson (Year 6). Across the two days, we had three finalists – a wonderful achievement! Our Junior Boys Relay Team (Nabarum, Michael, Ante and Jake) finished as the 6th fastest relay team in the state. Also, Tuliana Kabuyawa finished terribly close to the medals in placing 4th in the 8 years Girls 100m. And in a tightly contested Junior Boys Long Jump, where the places changed several times in the final rounds, Jake Baptiste finished 2nd in the state. This earned Jake a silver medal, plus a spot in the State Team to travel to Tasmania for the School Sport Australia Athletics Championships in November. If you would like to support Jake in his endeavours and possibly win a prize, Jake will be selling tickets on the next 2 Friday mornings (24th & 31st Oct.) before school under the COLA. It would be much appreciated if you could find $2 to support Jake P & C News A friendly reminder the next P & C monthly meeting will be held on Wednesday 29 th October 2014 at 7.30pm in the teacher’s staff room. This will be our last meeting for the year before the P & C AGM to be held on Wednesday 26 th November 2014 at 7.30pm. All persons in attendance will have the opportunity to hear about the new school planning process and have some involvement in it. Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there. This is usually applied for when students need to travel overseas during term time. Please note that it is not possible for exemptions to be granted retrospectively.
