NOVEMBER, 2014
FROM THE DIRECTOR
Here it is November and change is in the air!
Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour on
Sunday, November 2, then start looking forward
to the holidays! Seasons change and changes
come into each one of our lives. Recently Sharyn
Murphy retired as our Program Coordinator.
I would like to personally thank Sharyn for the
more than 10 years of dedication and service
she provided. When I hired Sharyn, it was at the
start of major changes in Medicare and State of
Connecticut Social Service programs. I want to
express our gratitude for all that Sharyn accomplished in those areas, as well as in programming. As we go forward, please welcome Dave
(aka Harry) Harrington as the new Program Coordinator. Harry has provided much needed assistance in recent months, and brings experience
and expertise with Medicare Parts A/B/C/D,
Energy Assistance Programs, CHOICES counseling, as well as other areas. Rebecca Stone, also
qualified in those areas continues to be available
to provide information and assistance. We also
have a new full time bus driver, Rosario Cosentino.
Mr. Cosentino most recently worked at Elim Park,
and is a welcome addition to the staff. There are
many opportunities for you at Calendar House.
As you read and enjoy Active Lifestyles, we hope
you find something of interest. On Thursday, November 13 at 1pm Patricia Walden, NHA, Executive Vice President of Central Connecticut Senior
Health Services, a component of Hartford HealthCare will be at Calendar House to provide information and updates on HOCC-BMH campus.
On Thursday, November 20 following the 1pm
Membership Meeting, Denis Rioux of BL Company, the architectural firm conducting the Needs
Assessment Study for Calendar House will join
us to provide an overview of the project and the
opportunity for you to voice your ideas, concerns
and things you’d like to see developed in our senior center. Please plan to attend and offer your
opinions. It’s an exciting month! Enjoy!
