Volume 2, Issue 11 860-621-3014 APRIL, 2015 FROM THE DIRECTOR April begins with Easter weekend (the Center is closed on Good Friday), and then with the warmer weather we can get into the “swing” of things with activities like golf and gardening, continued classes in art, quilting and exercise and special events! It’s the perfect month for our annual Fine Arts and Crafts Exhibit, the UNICO Big Breakfast, “clowning around” with Valentine at the Membership Meeting, interesting trips, an afternoon movie and our popular Polish Night Dinner! We are fortunate to have a place in our community to enjoy many activities and programs, develop new skills, find valuable information and assistance and enjoy being with friends. As we look to the future with expectations of expanding and becoming better than ever, responding to the needs and wants of our members, we are hoping that our town leadership will decide to permit our cause to be presented on the November ballot for referendum. The architectural firm of BL Company has done extensive and excellent work in considering and presenting options that will make a significant improvement for the Senior Center, current and future members and benefit the entire community. Now it will be up to us to support the project and express the interest, desire and commitment that we share to the Town Council. Robert Verderame, Calendar House Director STORM CLOSINGS Announcements are made on WFSB Channel 3 (position 3 on Cox Cable); WTIC AM (1080) & WTIC FM (96.5) if the Calendar House is closed. When closed, the nutrition program, all classes & activities are cancelled. Buses do not run.
