Charity The Anbanathapuram Vahaira Charities established in 1806 by the five philanthropic families of Anbanathapuram, Enathimangalam, Pallavarayanpet, Karugudi and Kanganamputhur. A.V. Charities had been serving the cause of religion and philanthropy for about 200 years and also as beacon light in the field of education to the innumerable youth, with rural background. A.V.Charities began its educational services by starting A.V.C. College (Autonomous) in 1955, extended their horizon to A.V.C. Polytechnic in 1983 and by opening A.V.C. College of Engineering in 1996. The Institution A.V.C College of Engineering established in the year 1996, situated on the main highway of Mayiladuthurai to Thirukkadaiyur of Nagapattinam District, Tamilnadu in an evergreen scenic landscape of 30.09 acres. The Institute offers seven under graduate programmes and five post graduate programmes in Engineering, Technology, Management and Science disciplines. Three programmes have been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA-AICTE) for the period of three years. The Institution has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) for the period of five years under Grade'B' with a CGPA of 2.73/4.00 in 2013. The Department The Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering established in the year 2011.The Department offers B.E. (Electrical & Electronics Engineering) under the faculty of Electrical Engineering of Anna University. It provides an effective engineering education and training to the students to become a successful professional. The laboratories are highly equipped with latest facilities for imparting quality education. Registration Fee Faculty / Research Scholars PG Students The FDP The main objective of this FDP is to kindle the interest among the participants to pursue research in the field of Power Electronics and Power Systems. This FDP will address the research issues in Converters, Smart Grid and Special Electrical Machines. In this FDP, applications of soft computing techniques in optimum design of Special Electrical Machines will be discussed. The Finite Element Analysis based evaluation of special electrical machines will also be addressed. The design of converter to get high quality sinusoidal wave (i.e. with low harmonics) will also be discussed. The Demand Response and the Distributed Renewable Energy Resources are the key ingredients of Smart Grid. These issues in Smart Grid will also be explored in this FDP. The practical control techniques of Special Electrical Machines will be demonstrated. Registration fee includes registration, FDP kit, working lunch and refreshment.
