SOMERSET/HUNTERDON/WARREN VICINAGE INTERNAL VICINAGE-WIDE* NOTICE OF ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITY POSITION TITLE: Probation Officer Level 2b - Basic (Career Service) LOCATION: Hunterdon County Justice Center** Family Division Flemington, New Jersey OPENING DATE: CLOSING DATE: October 29, 2014 November 14, 2014 SALARY RANGE: $44,914.80 - $76,395.30* ANNOUNCEMENT #: POSITION #: V14-50 959248 POSITION DESCRIPTION Under the general direction of the Court Executive 1B (Assistant Division Manager), or other supervisory personnel, this individual will be primarily assigned to the Non-Dissolution team (FD) and must possess strong organizational, interpersonal and automated skills. This position will provide the processing and case management work for the FD docket and act as the backup for the Domestic Violence and Contempt dockets. Duties will include, but not be limited to: interviewing clients seeking to establish and/or modify applications for child support, custody, parenting time, including UIFSA petitions for out of state child support; provide information to Judges, Managers and Supervisors; verify data and clients eligibility for assistance; gather relevant facts pertinent to the case; maintain statistics to generate reports in FACTS and NJKiDS; adhere to statutes, court rules, case law and policies for cases related to clients or customers; analyze case processing from intake through disposition; assemble case files for hearings; prepare Judges’ and Hearing Officer calendars; respond to attorney, litigant or citizen complaints; provide support in court, creating court orders on NJKiDS for Judge’s signature; establish working relationships with outside agencies; hold consent conferences; conduct home inspections and best interest evaluations and write corresponding reports; intake and process domestic violence complaints, including interview of victims applying for Restraining Orders; serve on juvenile on-call rotation; interact daily with Judges and their Chambers; answer questions posed by customers; work collaboratively with all team members; and perform any other duties assigned. **Although this position will be based in the Hunterdon County Justice Center (Flemington, NJ), based on vicinage needs, it can be relocated to the Somerset County Courthouse (Somerville, NJ) or the Warren County Courthouse (Belvidere, NJ). REQUIREMENTS Open to Judiciary employees who meet the education requirement listed below and have an aggregate of one year of permanent service as of the announced closing date in the following career (classified) service title(s). ADVANCEMENT Investigator Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in the Behavioral or Social Sciences. Substitution: A Bachelor’s degree in any area, which includes or is supplemented by twenty-four (24) credit hours in the Behavioral or Social Sciences, may be substituted for the required education. Driver’s License: Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of these positions. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
