Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) 1) Who can participate in this competition? Each entrant can only take part in either the Primary Category (open to persons studying in Singapore’s Primary Schools only, regardless of nationality and age) or the Secondary Category (open to persons studying in Singapore’s Secondary Schools only, regardless of nationality and age) but not both. 2) What do I need to participate in this art competition? All information required in the online entry form must be provided, including their name, school, teacher-‐in-‐charge, theme chosen, parent’s/guardian’s name, contact number and email addresses. Late, illegible, incomplete, misdirected or incompletely received entries will not be considered. 3) Can I submit multiple entries? Entries may only be submitted online at http://www.growingupwithlky.com Each entrant can only submit 1 entry; each school can submit more than one entry. 4) Can I choose more than one theme for my creative artwork? Each entrant can only choose one from the 10 themes set by EPH. The drawing must be accompanied with a short write-‐up of not more than 100 words on the same page as the drawing. 5) Can I incorporate my short write-‐up as a separate note? No, Entrants have to complete their write up on the same page as their drawing. 6) What is format of the entry to this art competition? 7) What are the restrictions for submission? No photographs or 3D embellishments are allowed (i.e.: tissue paper, glitter, puffy paint, etc.) as entries will be scanned and posted online. Please avoid including any corporate logos. 8) Are there any costs involved to participate in the art competition? No, participants do not have to pay to participate and submit their artwork for this competition. 9) When is the closing date for submission? The closing date for submission is 31 October 2014 2359 hrs. 10)
What are the judging criteria to win the art competition? Online voting contest weighs 70% of the final points, panel-‐judging weighs 30% of the final points. Online voting contest on Facebook will commence on 5 November 2014 09 00 hrs and end on 26 November 2014, 23 59 hrs. Voters are only allowed to vote for one entry per day on Facebook. 11)
How do I vote for my favourite entries? Voting will be done on POPULAR Bookstore's Facebook page. Lucky winners will be picked for the lucky draw on every Friday during the contest. Only Singapore citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the draw. Winners are required to show prove their identity to redeem the prizes. 12)
When will the winners be announced? Winners will be announced through the portal (http://www.growingupwithlky.com) on 1 December 2014 at 11 00 hrs. Thereafter, they will receive an email confirmation on their win. 13)

Terms and Conditions All entrants in Lee Kuan Yew Thru your Eyes Art Competition shall adhere to the following rules & regulations set by Educational Publishing House Pte Ltd (EPH). 1. 3. Ownership and Copyright By entering the competition, entrants shall consent to the public disclosure by EPH of their names and schools, and agree that the ownership of all intellectual property rights in the artworks and statements submitted as entries shall vest in and belong to EPH without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever. EPH shall therefore have the sole and exclusive right to do whatever it deems fit with the artworks and statements without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever including (but not limited to) the following: Licensing the artworks and/or statements to any third party (with or without fees or charges) for any use or purpose including use within or in connection with Educational Publishing House Pte Ltd; Using the artworks and/or statements for the purpose of the competition and in the Growing up with Lee Kuan Yew website (http://growingupwithlky.com) ; Using the artworks and/or statements on EPH’s promotional materials; Changing or reworking the artworks and/or statements by making colour or size or other changes; Making derivative works of the artworks and/or statements; Reproducing the artworks and/or statements or any re-‐workings, changes or derivatives thereof in any form or material (including any media or embodiment now known or hereafter to become known); Selling products bearing the artworks and/or statements or any re-‐workings, changes or derivatives thereof; Publicly displaying, performing or exhibiting, or distributing the artworks and/or statements in any way now known or hereafter to become known including without limitation by transmission, broadcast, or electronic communication. Entrants also agree that EPH may use their names and likenesses for purposes of advertising, trade show use and promotion without the need for payment of fees or royalties or any charges whatsoever. 4. Artwork Requirements and Submission All artworks submitted must be on A3-‐sized paper. Entries can only be submitted online as a scanned digital image file with the following criteria: JPEG, TIFF or PDF format Resolution: At least 4000 pixels wide for a horizontal image Max. File Size: 4MB Entrants whose entries are shortlisted are required to submit the hard copy version, upon EPH’s request. Entrants are to ensure that the hard copy is of good quality and any entry which does not fulfil the criteria set will be disqualified by EPH in its sole discretion. EPH may reject entries that it considers inappropriate for any reason. All artworks and statements submitted by an entrant should be the original creation of the entrant. It is the duty of the entrant to ensure that all elements do not infringe any copyrights or other intellectual property rights. EPH has the right to reject entries containing obscene, racist, unethical, dangerous, violent, politically motivated, sexual inference or legally objectionable material, or material that may infringe upon any person’s personal or property rights. Such entries will be immediately disqualified and not allowed on the website. Entries that do not meet the above listed criteria will be disqualified. Participants are entirely responsible for all entry-‐related costs. All artworks and digital image files submitted are non-‐returnable and shall become the property of EPH without the need for payment of any fee or charge whatsoever. 5. Prizes and Winners All prize winners are determined by a panel of judges and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained. All prizes are are not inclusive of taxes and/or foreign duties (if any) and other related expenses, all of which are the sole responsibility of the winners. Three main winners – Grand Prize, first runner up and second runner up – and 10 consolations from each category will be chosen. Winners will be announced through the portal (http://www.growingupwithlky.com) on 1 December 2014 at 11 00 hrs. Thereafter, they will receive an email confirmation on their win. The award ceremony will be held at Bookfest@Singapore 2014 on 18 December 2014 15 00hrs. More details will be provided on 1 December 2014. 6. 7. Disqualification Any entry that does not meet any of the rules and regulations of this online design competition is liable to be disqualified, including but not limited to entries submitted with invalid or incorrect information. EPH reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion and without prior notice to entrants: To cancel or modify the competition; To make changes to these Rules and Regulations, whereupon all entrants shall be bound by the Rules and Regulations as varied by EPH; To substitute, withdraw or cancel any prize without disclosing any reason therefore and without any payment or compensation whatsoever; and/or To disqualify any re-‐used entry that has already been awarded prizes in other competitions or any entry that does not adhere to or comply fully with the terms and conditions specified in these Rules and Regulations without disclosing any reason for disqualification. 8. Exclusion of Liability Each entrant warrants and undertakes to EPH that he or she is the sole author of the artworks and statements submitted as his or her entry to the competition and that nothing in the entry shall infringe any right of intellectual property or any other nature of any person or be obscene, racist, blasphemous, libelous, contain defamatory or sexual inference. Such entries will be immediately disqualified and not allowed on the website. Entrants further agree to participate in, at entrants’ own expense, production of the entry, prize presentation ceremonies and all other publicity events in Singapore or elsewhere in relation to the competition, without payment or compensation. To be eligible for the prizes, all winners may be required to sign and return to EPH a written confirmation of their acknowledgement and acceptance of these Rules and Regulations. Additionally, each winner may be required to provide to EPH a written confirmation duly signed by his or her parent or legal guardian stating that the parent or legal guardian has agreed to his or her participation in the competition and to be responsible for the compliance of these Rules and Regulations. duly signed or to comply with any terms and conditions therein shall result in disqualification or ineligibility for prizes. EPH and the directors, officers, employees and assignees thereof (individually and collectively the “Organiser”) shall not be liable for any claims, damages, losses, injury or inconvenience arising out of or in connection with the competition, any entry to the competition or any prize, including without limitation any loss or disqualification of any entry and any delay in, or failure or omission to provide the competition or any prize. 9. Indemnity Each entrant (including his or her heirs, executors and / or administrators) hereby agrees to indemnify and not hold the Organiser accountable against any and all claims, losses or damage arising out of or in connection with the competition, any prize or any breach of any obligation or warranty set out these Rules and Regulations and hereby releases and discharges the Organiser from any and all such claims, losses and damage. 10. Governing Law These rules and regulations are governed by the laws of the Republic of Singapore, and all entrants and winners submit to the non-‐exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore Courts in the determination of any matter or dispute arising in connection therewith. 11. General These rules and regulations are not intended to confer rights on any third party, whether pursuant to the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act (Cap. 53B) or otherwise, and no third party shall have any rights to enforce any provision of these rules and regulations.
