Convention Prayer Update
This week includes Remembrance Day. May we pause to
appreciate the great sacrifice of earlier generations to safeguard
our country as a place of peace and opportunity. Pray for those
who currently serve in our military and for leaders of our
provinces and our country. Pray that they will seek wisdom
from God as they carry out their duties.
CBM Prayer Line
Global: A team of Canadian Baptist women (including Julaine
Palmer, formerly of Grace Memorial) is now in Rwanda until
November 15 to meet with and encourage women of the Baptist
Community of Central Africa who are involved in counseling
women and families affected by abuse and sexual violence in
the DR Congo. Pray also for a team from Immanual Baptist
Church (Toronto) as they wrap up their visit in Lebanon.
Serbia: Praise God for the workshop, HORIZONS LIVE, held this
weekend with 35 youth leaders from across Serbia. CBM Field
Staff Jeff Carter was a facilitator. Thank God for dedicated
leaders such as Zlatko Sebesta, the national youth director and
Horizons mentor who translated Horizons into Serbian.
Kenya: Pray for the continued development of the Saturday
Program, a two-year course started this year by the Thika Bible
College of the African Christian Church & Schools. Now students
who have full time jobs can continue to study and complete
their Diploma of Theological Studies. Pray for Wayne and
Maureen Morgan, CBM Field Staff.
*Children come to the front during the hymn for a moment with
the pastor before going downstairs to your own program.
Middle School youth may exit at the back of the sanctuary
following the children’s moment and go to the youth room for
their Bible study.
Welcome to Worship!
We would like to extend a special welcome to her honor
Lieutenant Governor Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau along with her
husband Ronald Vienneau, as well as to the members of the
Royal Canadian Legion who are present for the Remembrance
Sunday worship service.
Lunch in the Gym Today
Following the service this morning, everyone is invited to a light
lunch of sandwiches, vegetables, and sweets in the gymnasium
found on the lower level of the church building.
We would request the congregation, in keeping with proper
protocol, stand as the Lieutenant Governor and the Legion and
the Colors (flags) enter at the beginning of the service and then
again as they leave at the end of the service.
For God So loved...
This morning we continue with the second of four messages
from John 3. Last week we were introduced to Nicodemus; a
Pharisee, Member of the Sanhedrin and well known teacher who
had sincere questions for Jesus. In particular Nicodemus
pondered, "Can people really change?" Jesus replied that God
brings change when people are born again. This morning we
continue exploring this conversation between two rabbi's and
learn more about what is meant for God to be able to extend to
us the offer of eternal life. Next Sunday Pastor Marilyn will delve
into what is probably the most well-known passage in the Bible,
"God so loved..."

Golden Years Club – November 12
The Golden Years Club outing to the Acorn Restaurant in Prince
William is on Wednesday, November 12. Members are asked

Our Mission Board is collecting knitted or
purchased hats, scarves, mittens, etc for
Winnipeg Aboriginal Fellowship. Donated items

Christmas Parade Float – November 29
The Church will have a float in the Fredericton Christmas Parade
on Saturday, November 29 at 5:00 PM (south side route).

Surviving the Holidays DivorceCare – November 19
If you are separated or divorced, the holidays can be a lonely,
stressful, and depressing time. But there’s hope. Join us for an
encouraging seminar to discover how to enjoy the holidays

Indian Curry Dinner – November 22
An Indian Curry Dinner will be held at the church on Saturday,
November 22 at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $25 per person,
available through Sarah Gunasellan at 457-7086; the church
office and the Kiosk. The dinner will be prepared by Sarah as a
fund raiser for her portion of the Bolivia Mission Tour 2015.
An inspiring talk by Michael Harvey about how our church can
develop a culture of inviting people to church. Michael Harvey is
the author of Back to Church Sunday which is held around the

Ten Thousand Villages – November 14 & 15

15 from 9:00-4:00. Annual Fair Trade Gift Sale benefiting
artisans from 30 developing countries. Gifts purchased will give
the blessings of steady work, fair wages, and a better life for
struggling families around the world.
Funds raised will be used to support
Martha Group charity projects. This
year the majority of the money will be given to Grandmothers
Helping Grandmothers which is a Fredericton Group supporting
African grandmothers raising children whose parents have died
from AIDS.

Board of Finance
The Board of Finance will provide an up-to-date report on the
Church's financial status at the November 12th Council
meeting. As part of that presentation a proposal will be made
on how we go forward into 2015 with a balanced budget. This
will be an important meeting and the congregation is
asked to make every effort to attend.

Recognizing the church may or may not vote to change our current
structure, the deacons are seeking suggestions for nominations for the
Deacon’s Board in the event changes do not proceed. They will also
accept suggestions for nominations for the Leadership Board which can
be passed on to the Nominating Committee, should the church vote to
adopt the proposed new structure.
PROSPECTIVE DEACONS
Our Board of Deacons is responsible to submit nominations to the
annual meeting of the church for the role of deacons. The board
solicits your input in this process.
Biblical expectations for members of the board are set forth in Acts
6:1-6 and I Timothy 3:8-13.
In cooperation with the Pastor the duties of the board include: the
spiritual welfare of the church, pastoral care of church families,
preparing and serving the Lord’s Supper, discipleship training and
preparation of candidates for baptism, the recommending of
candidates for membership, on-going outreach to our community (See
Section 13 of By-Laws for further details.)
In addition, the prospective deacon will have served in various areas of
responsibility over the years and currently be involved in some area of
ministry within the church.
