Meet Your Neighbors… Stan & Helen Amadon Helen was born in Concord, VT where she lived for a whole 10 days! Helen spent the rest of her time growing up in Lyndonville, VT. Stan was born in Lyndon Center, VT, right across the river from Lyndonville. Stan and Helen met during their high school years. While in the work force Helen worked at a Town Clerk’s Office and School Administration; she retired after working at National Life. Stan graduated from Lyndon State with an Education Degree. After college he worked in numerous positions, ranging from Principal, Elementary School Teacher, Director of Guidance, and working for the Department of Education in Vermont. Stan and Helen have 2 sons; Clark, who lives in Moretown, VT and Kyle, who lives in Grapevine, TX. They also have 2 granddaughters and 2 greatgranddaughters. In Helen’s free time she enjoys decorating, and shopping. Stan enjoys working with organizations, he has spent many years in Rotary, he represented Rotary District 7850 in Singapore on the international three year conference, at which time women were able to be voted into Rotary. He also has worked with the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and even refereed football for 40 years. Stan and Helen lived in Waterbury, Vermont since 1970, before moving to Westview Meadows. So far their favorite thing about Westview Meadows is the friendly people working, and living here. Welcome Stan & Helen! Get your flu shot so that you will be all set for whatever the flu season has in store for us. Make sure to have your paperwork filled out ahead of time and bring your Medicare card with you. Presentation on: Compassion & Choices (Act 39) Wednesday, October 8th Main Dining Room 2 pm Vermont State Director, Linda Waite-Simpson will be here to have a conversation about End of Life Care services and Act 39, Vermont’s Death with Dignity Law. She will be discussing different topics, and then ending her presentation with questions. South Central Washington County Candidates Forum on Elder Issues Friday, October 17th Main Dining Room 8-10 am COVE and Westview Meadows will be hosting the South Central Washington County Candidates forum on elder issues. Meet your State Senate and Washington Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4 House candidates. They will be here to speak candidly about issues most important to elders. There will be a light breakfast served. There will be books for purchase, along with games and other assorted nick-knacks. Lift Ride: Sugarbush Mountain Wednesday, October 1st Waitsfield 11:30 am This is the perfect afternoon out for all of you opera fans. The Barre Opera House will be showcasing its annual Opera Gala. There will be a live orchestra as well to provide the music for the singers. Come and sing along with Corey. It’s fall and the colors are changing to yellow, red, and orange. The autumn season has reached its peak on Sugarbush Mountain. See all the beautiful colors while going up the mountain on a lift. Once up at the top take in the moutains beauty. We will be providing a bag lunch at the bottom of Sugarbush Mountain. Led by Christine Litchfield, they choose and perfect a live musical to perform to different senior facilities in the area. Signs of New Life Vermont Philharmonic: The Annual Opera Gala Sunday, October 26th Barre Opera House 1 pm $ 12.00 Westview Meadows will be holding their annual Halloween party! We ask everyone to dress up and get into the festivities. There will also be a costume contest; we will have winners in several different categories.
