A Word from

November
A WORD FROM PASTOR TIM
November means the pace is picking up! As
you read this you are likely just recovering from
Halloween,
making
preparations
for
Thanksgiving and thinking about Christmas with
all that needs to be done to get ready!
All of the above are occasions filled with meaning
for Christians. And the fall season also points us
toward 2015 and what we must do now to
prepare for a new season of ministry.
The elders are deciding on a preliminary
budget for 2015. Offering an appropriate salary
to attract a new pastor will make the budget a
more ambitious one. Why not? I believe you all
are capable of generous giving, if you are
presented with something worthy of your gifts.
A strong new pastor and a future for FPC are
certainly worthy of our pledges and extra
giving – even to the point of sacrifice.
How you respond during our Stewardship
Pledge Drive will be the primary factor in
determining whether we can fully seize all the
ministry opportunities before us. See Jerry
Scott’s article in this issue of the PRESS and be on
the look out for a mailing coming your way
before mid month.
November 23 will not only be the Sunday we
dedicate our 2015 financial pledges. That
same Sunday we will also be dedicating a
window in the sanctuary to the Rev. Candie
Blankman who will bless us with the morning
sermon! Spread the word!
Finally, as we look now toward Thanksgiving, I am
particularly thankful for all your prayers
during my ministry visit to Turkey last month.
What a fruitful three weeks it was! Teaching at a
leadership retreat for young Turkish church
leaders, meeting one on one with many of them,
preaching in two separate congregations – it was
joy to be back in what is just as much the land of
the Bible as Israel is! It’s my second home!  But
it is good to be back in my first home with all of
you!
Let’s keeping praying all the time and about
everything! That’s our strength.

Pastor Nominating Committee Progress Report
Your Pastor Nominating Committee continues to work hard through the process of
bringing a pastor candidate before the congregation. The PNC has reviewed over
150 Personal Information Forms (PIF). These are resumes from pastors. Currently
meeting weekly, the PNC has narrowed the selection to 11 candidates. They are
now following up on those 11 by contacting references and listening to sermons.
Sunday, November 23 FPC will welcome
Pastor Candie back to worship and into
the pulpit to bring the morning sermon!
The occasion will be dedication of a
window in the sanctuary to her in honor
of and appreciation for all her years of
fruitful ministry among us. Don’t miss
out! Spread the word! Don’t be late! 
Please keep the PNC and the process of selecting our new pastor in your prayers.
STEWARDSHIP SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 23 - "The Heart of the Matter"
We are at a pivotal moment in our church's future ministry. The "New Beginnings"
vision we have set before us and the search for a new pastor promises great things
and God's blessing upon FPC. But the heart of the matter is, unless we can provide
the resources necessary to make our vision a reality, it is just a pipe dream.
During the week of November 10, you will receive the Stewardship Letter and
Commitment Card to pledge your support of FPC and our ministries for 2015. These
cards will then be presented on Stewardship Sunday, November 23.
Notes
We have many challenges and blessings in store for us. But we must do our part. I
hope you will be in prayer to determine what you will be able to pledge, Then join
me on Sunday, November 23 as we present our Commitment Cards for 2015.

Children’s Sunday School
Just a reminder that Children's Sunday School is
now in session. Children meet downstairs (for
grades K-5) and in the upper room (for middle
school and high school students). We look forward
to working with your children. We have also
returned to our children's worship schedule. This
program is designed for children preschool through
fifth grade and helps our children understand the
components of worship so that they can participate
more fully once they are in middle school. Middle
school children should remain upstairs for worship.
Contact Donna Huff or Cynthia Stender if you have any
questions.
This fall we will be handing out Bibles to our third grade
children. We don't want to miss anyone. Please contact Donna
Huff or Cynthia Stender if you have a third grader.

CWS
BLANKETS
Last year Colorado was affected
by massive flooding.
Because churches like ours collect
an offering for CWS Blankets,more
than 300
families were helped after
losing everything they owned.
The CWS Blankets shown here
Provided the first touch of care
they felt.
This is one of the places
around the world that your
proceeds go towards providing
warmth with the CWS Blankets
to those in need.
Donate!!! As little as $5 can bring a smile and help
bring love to those in dire need.

It starts with a gift . . . .
and leads to Lives Transformed
through Jesus Christ
More than two million children know firsthand how
much it hurts to have a parent behind bars. Little hearts
wonder if mom or dad still loves and remembers them.
For decades, Prison Fellowship’s Angel Tree program
has joined forces with churches like ours to bring hope
and joy back into the lives of prisoners’ children.
Through the delivery of Christmas gifts, inmates’
children are introduced to the love of Jesus Christ. Be
part of the miracle!
For the seventh year FPC will be participating in Angel
Tree. We have received our Angel’s names and are
currently contacting their caregivers. Now we need
your help.
On Sunday, November 2nd come to the Narthex to select
a child’s name to buy a Christmas gift for. Return the
gift unwrapped before Thanksgiving to the basket in the
Narthex on Sundays or to the Church office during the
week.
If you did not receive an Angel Tree Volunteer sign-up
sheet in your Sunday Bulletin, and would like to help
with wrapping gifts, delivering gifts or contacting
families in Spanish, let me know at
[email protected].
Thank you for support,
