November Plan
Every month Busy Bees should focus on caring and
being thankful but this month we will explain in detail
to the children what it means to care and to be
thankful for what we have. We will talk about family
and friendship. The letters that we are focusing on
are G-P-E. Will also talk about Thanksgiving and
how the first Thanksgiving took place.
This month K and TK will be focusing on being more
grateful and thankful. We will also be starting a new
unit in Science and learning all about Matter. In PE
we will be learning how to play Basketball.
We will also be talking about diversity and how we all
look so different and yet how we are similar inside
and outside.

Sweet Children
It's been called a poison, a drug and a toxin,
and scientists have started blaming it for
everything from obesity to heart disease to
diabetes. It's sugar—specifically, added sugar,
not the kind in fruit—and while we all know we
should eat it "in moderation,”.
Parents and scientists alike have long
suspected that consuming large amounts of
refined sugars may lead to childhood health
problems. Research suggests that there are
many negative effects associated with children
consuming diets heavy in refined sugars,
including obesity, hyperactivity and malnutrition.
American children consume a whopping 34
teaspoons of sugar per day. Although there is
no recommended amount of sugar that children
should consume, this amount far exceeds the
American Heart Association's guidelines for
adults of 6 to 9 teaspoons per day.
Sugars, however, come in many forms.
Typically, the term refined sugar refers to white
sugar, but it can also refer to several types of
other added sugars, which may make sugars on
a food label difficult to identify.
Refined and processed sugars are sugars that
do not occur in nature like the sugar from fruits.
Sugars have many names on the food label,
including glucose, fructose, high fructose corn
syrup, honey, molasses and sucrose. All of
these sugars vary in form, use and source, but
have the same negative effects on children.
Researchers found that children who consumed
more sugar-sweetened beverages had the
highest probability of being obese.

Sugar has not been proven to cause attention
deficit hyperactivity disorder. However, in a
review of literature in the "Journal of Alternative
Medicine Review" in 2000, Dr. Parris Kidd
reported that sugar consumption contributes
to the aggravation of the symptoms of
ADHD, including hyperactivity, aggression
and destructive behavior. Further, she noted
that children who were fed a diet of less than 6
grams of refined sugars daily had an
improvement of symptoms.
Sugar is harder to resist than any other food.
We need sugar to function—without it, we'd
quickly power down. in fact, that our bodies
have the ability to synthesize it from fat,
complex carbs and protein through processes
that take place in the liver. Sugar is even more
compelling than fat, found a recent study in the
American Journal of Clinical Nutrition..
In fact, sugar can be as hard to resist as
drugs.The idea of a "sugar addiction" isn't just a
concept. Experiments with both people and
animals have shown that sugar affects the brain
in the same way that morphine and other
opioids do, and when sugar-addicted rodents
were suddenly taken off the stuff, they went
through withdrawal—complete with the shakes
and anxiety. Eighty percent of all packaged
foods contain sugar, even many items that don't
seem particularly sweet.

Month of November Is Feed the Hungry
During the month of November, RHS collects food from the parents and staff and take them to the
Rancho Cucamonga Food Bank. The food bank is always short of food. Of course everyone can help
them throughout the year. It does not have to be only during Thanksgiving season. Thank you for your
food donations. This is very important contribution that we all could easily accomplish. GAP Food

“Dear Busy Bee Parents”
Thank you for taking the time to give us your recommendation of your
teachers and staff. When parents give us a positive remark it really makes
us extremely happy. It is a confirmation and acknowledgement of the hard
work that we put in to take the best care of the children.
Please continue your compliment of your teachers. Please give us your
constructive cretinism as well. We love to hear from you.
