"And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should
not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should
raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father,
that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may
have eternal life, and I shall raise him up on the last day."

Nineteen years ago, a
group of men and women
from St. Mary’s Church,
hosted a Christmas Party
for the Open Door Soup
Kitchen patrons which has
become an annual event. The
party was held at St. Mary’s
School cafeteria. Gifts were
generously provided by St.
Mary’s congregation and
socks, hats, mittens and scarfs were collected for several weeks and handed out at the party. Cookies, cakes,
candy, ice cream, and hot drinks were served as Santa
handed out the gifts. It was always heartwarming to see
the beautifully wrapped gifts donated year after year.
This party always showed the great heart and giving
spirit of the parishioners of St. Mary’s. You provided
Christmas gifts for 100-130 men, women and children.
One lady’s remark that will always be remembered,
“Thank you, St. Mary’s. I live alone and your Christmas gift was the only gift I received”.
Now some of the volunteers for this party, 19 years
later, are in their 80’s and feel it’s time to turn this
great project over to the younger members of the
parish. We are hoping some of you will step forward.
For more information, please call Alita Weaver, 7983671 or Connie Schwartz, 798-2212.
Your weekly contributions to the general collection support
the day-to-day operating expenses of the parish, including
faith formation, liturgy, maintaining our facilities and personnel.

St. Mary’s Youth Ministry Team would
like to thank all our parishioners and friends
who donated clothing, racks, time and
energy to help our Winter Clothing closet
last Saturday to be a great success. On Friday evening, teens and adults carried bags
and boxes and sorted all the clothes in the
SMSA Great Hall.
On Saturday, Oct 25th, over the span of 3 hours, 176 people
came looking for winter clothing. Many left with bags
stuffed full. They were so grateful and we received many
blessings. Here are some quotes from our comment book,
“Very helpful. What a great idea. God bless.” “...I found
exactly what I was looking for and more. Thank you! You all
did a wonderful job. So helpful!” “This was an amazing
thing for families in need, we thank you for this blessing.”
Over the 2 days, 20 teens volunteered their time along with
19 adults. See our photos on the lobby bulletin board.
This Make a Difference Day Project was organized by
our youth ministry team members: Nora & Renee Borgos,
Brittany Carpenter, Corrine Allen, Rebecca & Lisa
Daniels, Nate & Colleen Kroeze, Carly & Nan Tracy,
Keeley Platt, Joe & Maureen Hooker and Theresa
Cheney. May God bless them for this wonder ful
outreach to our community.

SMSA COMMUNITY
PLAYERS PRESENTS!
This holiday season,
America’s #1 Christmas
movie comes to life on
stage as a hilarious holiday musical. A Christmas Story, The Musical! chronicles
young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker as he schemes his
way towards the holiday gift of his dreams, a Red Ryder
Action Air Rifle BB Gun (“You’ll shoot your eye out
kid!”). A kooky leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas,
a maniacal department store Santa, and a double-dog-dare
to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions
that stand between young Ralphie and his Christmas wish.
