The Ladies Club will have a guest speaker on November 18th in room 127B during 2nd lunch to help prepare us for our November/December Service Project of exporting used shoes to needy countries. Funds generated will help buy the necessary equipment and supplies to get clean, safe water to villages and communities in Kenya and Haiti. Donations of new or slightly used supplies, coats, books for children in preschool, shoes, and sports balls are needed and much appreciated. Clothing sizes needed range from infant to adult extra – large, and we request all items be in good, useable condition. Bring your items to your A1 class now through December 1st. The Hays Memorial Scholarship is the most prestigious scholarship offered each year by Hendrix College. Recipients of this scholarship are exceptionally well-rounded student leaders who contribute to the educational community of Hendrix College. To be eligible for the Hays Memorial Scholarship you must a graduating senior with a 3.6 cumulative GPA, a minimum ACT “super score” composite of 32 or a minimum SAT Critical Reading and Math combined “super score” total of 1410, and apply to Hendrix by the November 15th Early Action I Deadline. Telluride Association sophomore Seminar is seeking 10th graders interested in being challenged in a six-week residential summer program. The topics covered are within the fields of Black and Ethnic studies. Any 10th grader interested in being nominated please come by guidance office and see Ms. Grayson. Bronfman Fellowships is a selective merit based program for high school juniors who identify at Jewish. This is a fully funded fellowship. Applications are due January 6, 2015. November 17th is the deadline to return the field trip permission form. Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program is offering a $1000 scholarship. Comcast would like to recognize a select senior for their commitment to community service, academics and demonstrated leadership. Attention Seniors admitted to the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville – The 2015 Arkansas Alumni Association Scholarship Application is now available. Applicants must be already admitted as an incoming freshmen to the U of A as a degree-seeking student, have a 3.6 cumulative GPA, and a composite of at least 24 on the ACT. Priority deadline is December 1st, 2014 and the Final Deadline being February 2, 2015. Applications are available at www.arkansasalumni.org/FRscholarships. Attention Seniors – Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville has released scholarship applications for the 2015-2016 academic year. Scholarships are available online at www.siue/alumni/awards. Students must apply for admission to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Scholarship applications must be submitted or postmarked by Friday, January 30, 2015. Attention Seniors interested in careers in Agriculture – America’s Farmers Grow AG Leaders announces a new scholarship program aimed at students looking for career opportunities in agriculture. Interested students may apply online at FFA.org/scholarships starting November 15th, 2014 until February 1st, 2015. Students must have three farmers’ endorsements of their application, have a 2.5 GPA, and major in an agricultural related field. Attention Seniors planning on majoring in Education – The Arkansas Association of Federal Coordinators (AAFC) is offering the AAFC Scholarship to high school seniors to supplement college costs during their freshmen year. The scholarship award is $1,000 for the first academic year and will be awarded to full-time students who enroll in an Arkansas College or University, including junior colleges, community, vocational, or technical colleges, and plan to major in education. Interested students must have a 3.0 GPA, Good citizenship (No suspensions or expulsions), Membership in a service or academic organization (extracurricular activity may be substituted), a letter of recommendation from a principal, counselor, or teacher, and non-family member (3 letters of recommendation required), and plan to work in the field of Education. The completed application must be received by December 19th, 2014. Please complete and mail all items listed on the “checklist” part of the application.
