Jostens will return to school on Thursday December 18th to handout class rings
and take final senior cap and gown orders. They will be here for one day ONLY
during student lunch period!
Seniors if you have not ordered your cap and gown yet you need to see Mrs.
Hippensteel or Mr. Fisher!! Your order needs to be submitted to Jostens on
Thursday!!
Congratulations to the Speech Team – they shone last Saturday at the
Westfield Speech Tournament 23 HHHS students competed in various
categories and we came home with 26 ribbons – 3 students were double
entered. It’s the first time this has ever happened that everyone that
competed took ribbons. Julie Ellis was named number 1 Radio
Broadcaster and the Scripted Duo of Leigh Anne Reuter and Madelyn
Merrell also took a first. The top 10 in each category are recognized and
receive ribbons. Congress: Ben Hiatt took 2nd. U.S.X.: Dianna Rulon took
5th, Poetry: Conner McKinney took 3rd, Madelyn Merrell 4th , Prose: Emma
Probst took 6th,Dale Allison 8th, Anna Carl-9th, Karissa Rulon 7, Sara Ellis
10th, Drama – Sabrina Childers took 7th, Discussion: Dale Roberts took 10th,
Mem Duo – Connor McKinney and Sabrina took 4th, Scripted duo: Katie
Sams and Hannah Fennell 6th, Zach Dankert and Sam Reitenour 7th, Krista
Pulley and Brenna Liston 8th,Kalie and Kirsten Matherly 3rd, Impromtu:
Xanna Shepard 7th and Ian Shepard 8th. Of The top 6 schools who received
trophies—HHHS took 5th. Noblesville took first and Fishers took 2nd.
ATTENTION SPEECH TEAM: Sign up sheet for the Noblesville Meet
on Saturday, Jan. 10th, is now posted. Monday after Winter Break,
Jan. 5th, is the last day to sign up for said meet. There are NO
workshops this week.
Any boy interested in playing soccer next year please pick

The Lady Husky swim team had a phenomenal performance at our Husky invitation al
today. We placed 2nd out of 7 teams with a score of 269 points. Outstanding
performances came from Lauren Sears earing a first place medal in the 100 Freestyle and
the 200 freestyle relay. The winning 200 freestyle relay swimmers were Lauren Sears,
Mariah Oxley, Allison Osborne and Claire Sloderbeck. Brooke Schults earned her first
place medal in the Diving Competition. Lucy Uhrick had an amazing day finishing 2nd in
the 500 freestyle and 3rd in the 200 IM. Mariah Oxley swam a strong 2nd place in the 100
Backstroke and finished 4th in the IM. Claire Sloderbeck finished a close second in the
50 freestyle and 3rd in the butterfly. Other outstanding mentions are Britt Borger placing
5th in the Breastroke and Allison Osborne 3rd in the 200 free. Sarah Mangas had a
season best time in the 500 free cutting over 7 seconds.
Heights Girls Basketball hosted Peru last Saturday. Varsity score was 61-70. Leading
scorers were Kayla Kirtley with 20 points, Caitlyn Hays with 14 and Lexi Branham with
10. JV score, Heights 43 – Peru 35. All players contributed to the scoring. Leading
scorer, Audrie Catron with 20 points.
Heights Boys Basketball hosted two games last weekend. Varsity defeated Cass HS on
Friday night by a score of 65-55. Leading scorers: Hunter Crist with 19 points, Jadon
White with 17 and Garrett Paull with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Varsity was also
victorious over Tri-Central on Saturday night by a score of 77-61. Leading scorers in that
contest were Garrett Paull with 15 points, Jadon White & Kurry Miller with 14, and Grant
Weatherford with 12. JV teams were victorious in both contests. JV score vs. Cass was
58-26. Leading scorers were Noah Wallace with 18 points (6 for 6, 3-pointers), Caymn
Lutz and Tyler Wiltermood with 11 each. JV score vs. Tri-Central 47-22 – well-rounded
scoring by all team players. GREAT JOB HUSKIES!
Guidance Announcements
Denison University hosts a week-long residential summer program in creative
writing . The Reynolds Young Writers Workshop will be held from June 14-21,
2015. The fee for the eight day program is $1,300. Please feel free to stop by the
Guidance Office if you would like more information.
Senior Parents: On December 16th at 7pm there will be an informative Financial Aid
Meeting in the High School Media Center. Becky Lefler, a Financial Aid Counselor
at Indiana University-Kokomo, will be the guest speaker. Becky will cover the
entire Financial Aid process! She will focus on several important topics including; all
the steps involved with filling out the FAFSA (Free Application For Federal
Student Aid); understanding the differences between grants, loans, and
scholarships; and learning about helpful tools that will assist you in navigating the
Financial Aid process. Please use Entrance B (Park in the East Lot in front of the
Main Office) when entering the high school. Mrs. Curnutt and Mr. Trachtman will
meet you at the entrance and direct you to the Media Center. The Hamilton
Heights Senior Parent Financial Aid Meeting gives parents an opportunity to meet
with, and ask question of, a University Financial Aid Counselor! We hope to see you
on the 16th!
Are you a high school student interested in the field of Cosmetology? Amber’s
Beauty School (Muncie Indiana) is hosting a one day salon tour on December 11

Today’s students face a number of challenges that can make it difficult for them
to pursue a post-secondary degree. The Ivy Tech Associate Accelerated Program
(ASAP) offers a solution to help students overcome these challenges. ASAP
students can earn their associates degree in one year and be prepared to start
their careers or transfer to a four-year college. Please feel free to stop by the
Guidance Office to learn more about this opportunity.
Seniors: IUK’s Financial Aid Department is conducting FREE FAFSA Workshops for
seniors! IUK wants to offer assistance to students and parents so that they can
accurately complete the 2015-16 FAFSA. Please feel free to stop by the Guidance
Office if you would like more information.
Are you a high school student interested in learning more about J. Everett Light
Career Center? There will be a JEL Career Center Open House on December 11,
2014 from 6pm until 8pm. This would be a great opportunity for students and
parents to learn more about the outstanding programs offered by the J. Everett
Light Career Center.
Starting in 2014 Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville will be offering in-state
tuition to students from Indiana. Feel free to stop by the Guidance Office to learn
more about SIEU.
The Indianapolis Zoo is looking for responsible, enthusiastic students with an
interest in working in a zoological environment, and who can interact positively with
guests. Students of all academic levels will be considered for the program. Please
feel free to stop by the Guidance office to pick up a “Zoo Teen” application. The
deadline for completed applications is December 31, 2014.
Ivy Tech is proud to present the American Honors College! American Honors is a
selective honors program at community colleges across the country for students
who want to transfer to earn a bachelor’s degree. Seniors can visit www.
Apply.AmericanHonors.org to apply for this program. Please feel free to stop by
the Guidance Office to pick up a brochure.
Are you a senior who plans on attending Indiana University-Bloomington? The
Collins Living-Learning Center might be of interest to you. Collins is a close knit
community of 500 students-the smallest residence hall on campus-and also a
diverse one! For a student who wants a small college experience at a major
research university, the Collins Living-Learning Center is a wonderful choice. To
learn more about the Collins Living-Learning Center feel free to pick up a brochure
in the Guidance Office.
Seniors: The Associated Accelerated Program (ASAP) is a program at Ivy Tech
that allows students to earn a two year degree in just one year. Please stop by the
Guidance Office to learn more about this tremendously affordable way to complete
an Ivy Tech degree!

with in depth College Admissions Information for all Indiana public and private
Colleges. Important application fee and deadline information are included in this
document.
Are you a highly academic high school interested in the field of Medicine? The
National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine might be of interest to you. Stop by
the Guidance office if you would like more information on this opportunity.

Test Preparation Options. Online Test Preparation sites, local and/or Independent
Tutors, and SAT/ACT Guides are included on this from! Please feel free to print
this information off to help assist your child in preparation for taking the ACT or
SAT test.
The Navy ROTC program is a great way to get college paid for… and be part of the
Naval branch of our Armed Forces. Notre Dame is the one school in-state that has
a NROTC program, but numerous out of state universities have this opportunity.
Please feel free to pick up information in the Guidance Office, or talk with the
Navy representative who visits our school.

standard $25 undergraduate application fee during the entire month of

Scholarship Information
Seniors: The Hamilton County Masters Gardeners Association is currently
accepting applications for the 2015-16 Barney Hobbs Horticultural Scholarship.
Five $3,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors or college students
who are residents of Hamilton County and intend to major in Horticulture or a
related subject such as agriculture, botany or landscape architecture/design.
Applications can be downloaded at www.HCMA.org. Please feel free to pick up an
application in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is March 15, 2015.
Beta Sigma Psi is proud to announce several scholarships available to Lutheran men
who will be starting college in 2015. Alumni from Beta Sigma Psi chapters at the
University of Illinois, Indiana University, and Purdue University will select wellqualified individuals to be honored with the Christian Leadership Award, a $1,500
scholarship! Please feel free to stop by the Guidance office to pick up a scholarship
application. The application deadline is February 14, 2015.
Hunter Law office is proud to award one deserving high school senior with a $500
scholarship! The Twists and Turns scholarship is open to all qualified high school
students from Hamilton County. Please feel free to pick up a scholarship
application in the Guidance Office. The application deadline is April 17, 2015.
High School Seniors interested in furthering their education at a college or
technical school could be eligible for the North Central Co-op Scholarships. Go to
www.ncc.coop to learn more about this scholarship opportunity. All completed
applications and transcripts need to be e-mailed to [email protected] by March 1, 2015.
Exceptional student leaders are invited to apply for the 2015 GE-Reagan
Foundation Scholarship Program. This program annually rewards up to 20 collegebound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and
citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships. For more information you may

The Prindle Institute of Ethics at Depauw University is delighted to announce their
first annual High School Essay Contest. Five high school students will be awarded
$300 for submitting the best essays. The topic question is: Should the United
States enact travel bans to regions with Ebola outbreaks? Go to

Seniors: The Knights of Pythias-Grand Domain of Indiana Scholarship Program
may of interest to you. You must have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point
average to apply. Please feel free to stop by the Guidance Office to pick up an
application. The application deadline is January 25, 2015.
Are you a senior interested in majoring in Business at Ball State University next
fall? The Miller Scholarship and Miller Business Scholarship might be of interest
to you. To be considered for the Miller Scholarship, applicants must have high
grades and test scores. The current Miller Scholarship recipient had a cumulative
GPA of 3.82, a mean SAT score of 1850 and an average composite score for the
ACT was 28. All scholarship materials must be received by Ball State by January
31, 2015. Program information, application, and current student profiles are

Are you a senior interested in attending the University of Dayton? UD is pleased
to offer the opportunity to award one graduating senior the Leadership in Service
Scholarship worth $2,500 annually. Please feel free to stop by the Guidance Office

scholarship deadline is January 31, 2015.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities Scholarship seeks to invest in students who
are exemplary role models in their communities and have initiative to fulfill their

Are you a senior interested in pursuing an accredited post- secondary educational
program in fashion design? The “Aspiring Fashion Professional” Scholarship might
