Lite uppgifter om Skaftarps kvarn.
År 1312 skänkte en viss ThukoJoonsson kvarnen till Nydala kloster för sina synders
förlåtelse och att munkarna skulle be för hans själ vid tre tillfällen under året, i evig
tid.
Klostret byter efter hand bort kvarnen mot annan egendom, men 1417 får munkarna
tillbaka kvarnen av en Trollesläkting vid namn PederNiclisson. Den återgick senare
åter till Trollesläkten som behåller kvarnen till 1600-talets mitt då Olof Rosenstjärna
övertog kvarnen. En tid fanns det 2 kvarnar strax intill varandra. Adelsmännen
huserade på Edhs herrgård och förblev i adelns ägor till mitten på 1860-talet då
kvarnen säljs till ofrälse ägare. Vid kvarnen tillkom även ett sågverk samt en smedja.
Skaftarps kvarn stängdes 1952 då en ny åfåra grävdes och kvarnen blev utan
vatten. Sista ägaren till kvarnen var Sydkraft som skänkte kvarnen till
Hembygdsföreningen 1981
som för några år sedan överlät den till en intresseförening i Skaftarp.

The history of the mill :
In the year of 1312, a man named ThukoJoonsson donated the Skaftarp Mill to Nydala Abbey, in
exchange for the forgiveness of sins and with the promise that the Abbey monks would pray for his
soul, three times each year, until the end of time.
Later, the Abbey traded the mill for other property, but in 1417, the mill was returned to the monks by
a member of the noble Trolle family named PederNiclisson. Thereafter, the mill once again returns to
the ownership of the Trolle family, which remained until the middle of the 17th century, when
OlofRosenstjärnaaquired the mill. During a period, there was two separate mills close to each other
on the site.
The mill remained the property of this noble family, who resided on Edhs mansion, until the 1860-ies,
when the Mill was sold to owners outside the nobility circle. At this time, a sawmill and a forge was
added to the mill. Skaftarp Mill was closed in 1952, when a new river trench was dug, which drained
the mill.
The last owner of the mill was the power company Sydkraft, which donated the mill to the homestead
society in 1981, who in turn donated it to an interest group in Skaftarp.
