MUNSTER NETWORK PANEL ELECTION STATEMENTS Sarah O’Neill My name is Sarah O’Neill and I have been a member of the Munster Network Panel for the past 2 years. Based in Limerick I work as a Finance Partner for a multinational technology company supporting a global team in a fast paced environment. I qualified as an ACCA member in 2004 spending seven years working in the Banking Sector in Dublin before changing industry and location. I am eager to be re-elected to the panel representing your interests and concerns as I believe that my experience across Financial and Industry sectors enables me to understand the many challenges faced by members in the Midwest and Munster area. I am keen to advance the recognition of ACCA across the region and provide more member networking events for ACCA members and students. Through my company I also provide input to the ACCA at a national level. I am actively involved in my company’s diversity network and also participate in business committee’s in the Midwest region. Thank you for your support. Niall Brosnan My name is Niall Brosnan, I am a fellow ACCA member and work with AIB Bank, Cork. I have over 13 years professional experience in a number of industries ranging from the pharmaceutical to the SME sector. Prior to my current position in financial services / banking, I also worked in Practice where I qualified as an ACCA member in 2012. I commenced employment with AIB two years ago and have enjoyed a remarkable experience in an exceptionally turbulent environment. I am now seeking election to the ACCA’s Munster Members Network Panel. I would relish the opportunity to represent my fellow members and I would be extremely grateful if you would consider voting for me. I believe I can be an asset to the Panel and more generally to the wider member’s interest given the breadth of experience I have gained to date in the roles mentioned and if elected I will work tirelessly to ensure members interest are always to the fore. I qualified as an ACCA member in 1991, obtaining fellowship in 1996. I am a lecturer at the Institute of Technology in Tralee with particular interest in the areas of management accounting, corporate finance and financial management. Prior to becoming a full time lecturer I was financial controller with Farran Technology in Cork having trained in practice with O’Brien Crowley in Ballincollig, Co. Cork while lecturing part time at Cork Institute of Technology. As an active member of ACCA, I have organised continuing professional development for members via the Institute of Technology for ACCA members and promoting the ACCA qualification with our graduates. For the past two years I have been a member of the ACCA Munster Panel. I am now seeking your support to continue my work to improve the continuing professional development provision for members and promotion of graduate entry to ACCA. Thank you for your support. Steven Flint I am Steven Flint and I seek your support in re-election to the Munster Panel. I qualified in 1990 and work in Cork, as a general manager with a global engineering company, providing innovative energy solutions to the food and pharmaceutical sectors. I have been actively involved in the Munster and Cork panels for several years where I have promoted the ACCA brand, helped to recruit students and assisted in the development of CPD in Cork. As an accountant in industry, I am keen to provide a varied programme of technical and professional learning and development in our CPD programme. I recently attended the new members’ event in the Aviva Stadium, and am impressed by the energy, diversity and talent of the new members setting-out in our unrivalled international organisation. I qualified over 20 years ago and my experiences are drawn from public practice, commerce and the public sector. Accountants must build and nourish contacts in order to remain vibrant and influential professionals within the community. Maintaining an appreciation of emerging or topical financial issues is as important as sustaining core competencies critical to a particular employment. ACCA regional events have always been central to my ongoing professional development. I now want to make a contribution and continue the network’s good work of recent years. I am Internal Auditor with Cork City Council. ACCA members within public organisations face a specific array of challenges in a period of continued change. I would strive to assist the Munster Panel in sourcing events or thought leadership that finance professionals in the region can use to influence developments within the public sector.
