Book of the Names of the Dead
During the month of November, we have enthroned in our
Church the book of the Names of the Dead. There are
inscribed the names of those from our parish family
who have died this past year. Each one of us is invited
to add names of our families, friends and loved ones
who have died. We will remember them at all the
Masses during November.

YOU CAN UNDERSTAND THE BIBLE
If you want a better understanding of our faith, and a
deeper relationship with God, then you should join us for
The Bible Timeline Study.
The Bible Timeline is a Catholic Bible study that can help
anyone to make sense of the bible and experience the lifechanging power of God’s Word. The study takes you on a
journey through the entire Bible and brings you deep into
each period of salvation history, so that you can discover
the amazing story woven throughout all of Scripture. The
Bible Timeline has helped hundreds of thousands of people
to have a better understand the bible and a deeper relationship with Christ, and it will help you too.
The study will include a series of twenty-four videos presented by Jeff Cavins. (Perfect attendance is not necessary.) Each video will be preceded by a lively group discussion.
St. Ambrose will continue The Bible Timeline each Thursday, November 6th at 9:30AM and 6:45PM in the Pastoral
Center.
Sign up forms at each entrance to church.

Program for School Age Children yet to be
Baptized
We have come to learn that with parishioners who have
moved, or for any variety of other reasons, have been
unable to obtain the Sacrament of Baptism for their children. We are happy to assist our families to obtain the
Sacrament.
All children of our Parish who have yet to celebrate their
8th Birthday are welcome to attend a Special Program
just for them to prepare them to be Baptized before Advent which begins in late November.
Beginning Tuesday, November 18th and running
through November 21st, Deacon Bill and Pat Kessler
will prepare those school age youngsters attending any
school to receive the Sacrament of Baptism. The sessions
begin at 4 and run until 5PM in the Pastoral Center
right off the Church.
Any child above the age of 8, yet to be Baptized, is welcome to prepare for the initiation into our Church as
well. We will happily accommodate them as well in a
different Program more suited to their age.
If you have questions or would like to register, please
call Deacon Bill or Cathy at St. Ambrose 466-2921.
Giving Tree Project
Our parish families join together to provide Christmas
gifts or personal items needed to area residents who
are not as blessed with family and friends as we are.
We accomplish this with our Giving Tree Project. A
Christmas tree has been decorated in the Parish
Lobby. Each decoration has a request for a gift. Families are invited to take ornaments(s) purchase and follow directions on the ornament tag. It is very important for the gifts to be tagged securely with the original
ornament identifying the person or (organization) for
the place of delivery. If you have any questions please
call Debbie or Pat at the Parish Office 466-2921.
Volunteer parishioners deliver the gifts to the various
agencies providing names. Please call the office if you
would like to volunteer to help. This has been a great
way for our parish to come together as a community
during the season celebrating God’s Gift of His son
and to each of us!

**Christmas Calm: Sure, you love the holiday season—
but just not so much of it! This year, you’re hoping to cut
the crazy out of Christmas: to turn the celebration back to
one that is sustainable and calm.
Question is, just how do you do less—and enjoy it more—
during the Christmas holiday season? If you’re aiming to
simplify Christmas, take time to ponder ways to cut stress,
save money and tame over-the-top traditions. Setting simplicity strategies in place early will keep you from being
swept up in holiday madness.

Parish Prayer
My parish is composed of
people like me.
I help make it what it is.
It will be friendly, if I am.
It will be holy, if I am.
Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them.
It will do great work, if I work.
It will be prayerful, if I pray.
I will make generous gifts to many causes
if I am a generous giver.
It will bring others into its worship,
if I invite and bring them.
Therefore, with the help of God,
I now dedicate myself to the task
of being all the things that
I want my parish to be.
Amen
From Pope Francis: Tips for a Happier Life
1. “Live and let live.” Everyone should be guided by this
principle, he said, which has a similar expression in
Rome with the saying, “Move forward and let others do
the same.”
2. “Be giving of yourself to others.” People need to be
open and generous toward others, he said, because “if
you withdraw into yourself, you run the risk of becoming egocentric. And stagnant water becomes putrid.”
3. “Proceed calmly” in life. The pope, who used to teach
high school literature, used an image from an Argentine
novel by Ricardo Guiraldes, in which the protagonist—
gaucho Don Segundo Sombra—looks back on how he
lived his life.
4. A healthy sense of leisure. The Pope said
“consumerism has brought us anxiety”, and told parents
to set aside time to play with their children and turn off
the TV when they sit down to eat.
5. Sundays should be holidays. Workers should have
Sundays off because “Sunday is for family,” he said.
6. Respect and take care of nature. Environment degradation “is one of the biggest challenges we have,” he
said, “I think a question that we’re not asking is: “Isn’t
humanity committing suicide with this indiscriminate
and tyrannical use of nature?”
