St. Edward Church is a Catholic community of believers, rich in tradition and growing in diversity. Recognizing the equality of all

The Commemoration of all of the
Faithful Departed
It is very significant and appropriate that after the Solemnity of All Saints,
the Liturgy has us celebrate the Commemoration of all of the Faithful Departed. The
"communion of saints", which we profess in
the Creed, is a reality that is constructed
here below, but is fully made manifest
when we will see God "as he is". It is the
reality of a family bound together by deep
bonds of spiritual solidarity that unites the
faithful departed to those who are pilgrims
in the world. It is a mysterious but real
bond, nourished by prayer and participation
in the Sacrament of the Eucharist. In the
Mystical Body of Christ the souls of the
faithful meet, overcoming the obstacle of
death; they pray for one another, carrying
out in charity an intimate exchange of
gifts. In this dimension of faith one understands the practice of offering prayers of
suffrage for the dead, especially in the Sacrament of the Eucharist, memorial of
Christ's Pasch which opened to believers
the passage to eternal life. Dear friends,
may the traditional visit of these days to the
tombs of our dear departed be an occasion
to fearlessly consider the mystery of death
and to cultivate that constant vigilance
which prepares us to meet it serenely. The
Virgin Mary, Queen of Saints… will help us.

November is traditionally the month to pray in particular for the faithful departed. If you have a picture of
a deceased loved one, you are invited and encouraged to place it on the All Souls' altar (that's the far
left as you face the main altar).

Parish pastoral council nominations are now
open. Two positions, each with a three-year term, are
up for election. If you are interested in running or if
you would like to nominate someone, please take a
form from the back of church, write the information
on it, and leave it in the nomination box. Nominations
will cease on Sunday, November 16th, and elections
will be held on November 22nd-23rd.

St. Edward Parish collects nonperishable food items
for the needy on the first Sunday of each month. Members of the parish who need a little extra help with groceries are the first ones to receive these offerings of
food. Anything left over goes to Helping Hand to be
distributed to needy people in the Little Rock area. If
you don’t know what to contribute, pick up a list of the
kinds of food needed in the vestibule of the church.
When you bring food, place it in the box under the table
in the vestibule of the church. If you forget to bring your contribution on the first
Sunday, you can place it in the box at any
other time.

recolectando alimentos en lata para los más necesitados el primer domingo de cada mes. Los miembros de la

Yoga can help improve your flexibility and
build muscle strength. Yoga is a mind and
body practice. Each yoga class varies. Come
and relieve your stress, and have more energy to continue your daily activities.
Yoga Class is every Wednesday at 6 p. m. in
the Church office.

of alternate months in the parish office
