Principal’s Note
Dear Parents and Friends
Welcome to another issue of our
newsletter.
It has been another exciting week at
Dalby South. Last weekend three
touch football teams took part in the
Queensland All Schools touch
carnival. Even though our teams did
not make the grand finals they all
did an amazing job competing as
part of some very fierce competition.
Our teams never gave up and
certainly learnt a great deal from the
experience. They were well
supported by a huge number of
parents and supporters who braved
the extremely windy conditions to
cheer them on. I am very

appreciative of our parent coaches
who helped prepare our teams for
the event together with Miss Moore,
Miss Ackery and Ms White who
coached and organized the teams
for both touch football carnivals.
Yesterday I met with a range of
people at the Council Chambers
about our ongoing quest for Traffic
Lights on Owen and Drayton St. I
took the opportunity to once again
state our case for traffic lights prior
to a set of public information
workshops that are scheduled for
next week. On Wednesday 13
November at BMO 6-7pm the
Eastern Access plan will be
discussed, then from 7-8pm the
Western Access plan will be shared
with those present. I believe that
residents and businesses along
Drayton St have received a copy of
the proposed road upgrades. If you
would like to know more about the
road upgrade then the display and
information session at BMO will be
able to answer all your questions.
Our school will certainly be present
at this information session and we
would be pleased to see any other
interested residents present also.
This Friday we are being visited by
the National Rodeo Queen and two
Runners Up who will be in Dalby for
the National Pro Rodeo Finals being
held this weekend. These visitors
will be sharing with students what
they have to do in this role and
explaining more about their
upcoming trip to Calgary in Canada
where they will represent Australia.
It will certainly be a very big
weekend of Rodeo in Dalby which I
am sure many residents and
members of our school community
will enjoy.
Finally don’t forget our Performing
Arts night next Thursday the 13th of
November. Our Choirs and bands
will all be performing in a great night
of entertainment being held at Dalby
State High School Performing Arts
Centre from 6.30pm. I hope that
you will join us at that time.
Kind regards
Dave, Kate, Paul & Joel

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR
TUCKSHOP VOLUNTEERS!
Our tuckshop volunteers and convenor are often the unsung heroes in our school.
We are extremely fortunate to have Mrs Karen Grubb as our tuckshop convenor at
Dalby South. We are also fortunate to have the assistance of a number of
volunteers who help out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in our tuckshop.
Thank you to Kasey White
& Sarah Dodd for all their
time and hard work during
NAIDOC week .
Tuckshop Day on Friday 7 November is a chance to give these wonderful people a
collective pat on the back. During our whole school parade this week we
acknowledged the support of the following people:
Tabitha Elliott
Leanne Kane
Michael Kane
Nicki Price
Stacey-Leigh Williams
Peter Allan
Tracey Mitchell
Sandy Smith
Jen Tunley
Mary Parsons
Amanda Smith
Tracie Clem
Jasmine Baker
The staff and students at Dalby South are extremely grateful to these people for
giving their time to make a difference in our school, as well as ensuring that we are
never without a range of healthy options to fill our stomachs!
We are always on the lookout for more parents, grandparents and local residents to
help out in our tuckshop. The old saying “more hands make light work” was never
truer than in our school.
NATIONAL COMPUTER SCIENCE SCHOOL
CHALLENGE
In Term 3 these students participated in the National
Computer Science School Challenge. Over 5 weeks,
they completed challenges using the Python computer
programming code. Isaac Bliesner achieved a perfect
score on all challenges, and was one of the top scoring
students in the state.

A walk down memory lane anniversary dinner
Saturday 28th March 2015
Tickets $25 ea tables of 8, on sale 9om school office Monday 10th November
We have had an outstanding community response to our anniversary dinner from which all
proceeds are being donated to the 2015 Canberra Camp. Already around 60 businesses have
kindly donated towards the multi draw raffles, major prize draw, food and beverages, lighting,
decorating, and a courtesy bus for safe travel. At this moment we have close to $4000 worth of
prizes on offer to win. Along with local businesses we have had wonderful support from our
teaching staff, parents and citizens in our school community to make this night fantastic, full of
laughter, good company, great food and entertainment. In our quest to preserve our hall floor, you
will not find coke being served at the dinner and we ask that no high heels be worn. Don’t miss out
on this historic occasion tickets are limited.
