NEWSLETTER Term 1 Week 8 2015 Principal’s Note Dear Parents and Friends This week we had the Annual General Meeting of the P & C Association. I am pleased to say that all positions were filled with ease and our new executive team has now been finalized. The 2015 office bearers are President - Lynda-Lee Wilkie, Secretary - Jen Tunley, Treasurer-Kathryn Briese, Vice Presidents –Tara Routley and Deb Hoadley. I am sure that this group will do an outstanding job during the course of 2015. We have quite a bit on in the coming weeks and it will require a mammoth effort from one and all to achieve all of our goals….but as they say many hands make light work. On Tuesday we had most of our school population involved in a special photo on the oval to acknowledge the national day of action against violence. Both Keith Young and Doug Matthews did some special mowing on the oval to allow our students to form the letters of “Bullying No Way”. Assisted by James Minchin and his camera mounted to a small helicopter we were able to take some pretty impressive photos. We were very surprised at just our impressive the photos were when completed. I think that everyone enjoyed being part of this special occasion. A photo from this activity will be published tomorrow. As you would expect the final arrangements are being made for our FETE this weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone to share this special occasion with us. I would like to thank everyone that has offered their assistance with this project , whether that be by volunteering on the day or providing goods for the many stalls. It is certainly shaping up into a very memorable day for one and all. Miss Kidd our Physical Education specialist teacher has been very busy training students for our upcoming cross country that will be staged on the last day of term. Most mornings and breaks during the week she can be found training students for various sporting activities and I know that our students are very keen to be engaged in these sessions. If you have not noted our Cross Country day on 2 April make sure you put it in your diary so you can be present to share this day with us. Tomorrow we have students heading to Brisbane for the Halogen Foundation Young Leaders day at the Convention Centre. It is a very large event and I think for many of the students taking part it hard to comprehend the size of the venue and the number of students taking part. Mrs Paynter and Miss Batts are heading to Brisbane with our students and I know that they are looking forward to the early start to get the bus away on time at 5 am. HARMONY DAY This week at Dalby South we celebrated ‘Harmony Day’. The message of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’. It is a day to celebrate Australia’s diversity. Take a look at these pictures of the impressive display of flags that we had on parade from 23 different cultural backgrounds. We were also lucky enough to receive a visit from Roushini, a lady from India, who shared her talents with the students in Year Four and Five.
