YÜÉÅ à{x ctáàÉÜË á Wxá~
Dear Friends,
I
t might seem odd to have a feast day for a church, but our readings today show us that
marking God’s presence is a time-honored tradition. When Jacob dreamed of ladders and angels, he took it as a sign of God’s presence and built an altar in the place he’d slept. When
we finally recognize the presence of God, we often take special note of the moment with
some sign. The Basilica of St. John Lateran, the principal cathedral of Rome (also known as
the pope’s cathedral) and the baptismal Church of ancient Rome, is a wonderful example of
such a sign. Our focus today is not on the building itself, but on what it represents - the union of the whole people of God gathered with the pope in witness to the presence of God.
Yours in Christ,
Very Rev. Michael A. Carrano

“hosting” the Mass. This Sunday, November 9
Grade 3 will be hosting. Next Sunday, November

they bring up the gifts at the Offertory and hand
you the bulletins as you leave. Special reserved
pews for the hosting grade will be provided in the
front left hand side across from the lector and Eucharist Ministers. Join us as we celebrate with our
youngsters as they share God’s love with the rest
of our parish.

Veteran’s Day Salute
Our Lady of Hope’s Senior Goal Group would
like to extend its appreciation to its parish veterans. We thank you for your service, bravery and
sacrifice. Without you, we would not enjoy the
freedoms of this great country. We honor you
and acknowledge your loyalty.
As we celebrate Veteran’s Day, we should remember the men and women who have risked
their lives, limbs and well being to defend our
country and our freedom. As the Wounded
Warrior Project states in their motto:
“THE GREATEST CASUALTY IS BEING FORGOTTEN.”
Let us never forget our heroes.
