The Declaration Activities and updates for the Residents of Independence Hill Retirement Community Volume 21, Issue 11 November 2014 Michelle’s Message Salute to our Veteran’s ~ On Veteran’s Day, November 11th, we will be honoring our very own Heroes at our “2nd Annual Veteran’s Breakfast” in the IHAL Ivy Room at 8:30am. In the evening, we will be attending the Veteran’s Day Concert at the Majestic Theatre at 5:15pm. This concert is a must see… sign up early! Casino ight – It’s time to roll the dice and test Lady Luck at our Annual Casino Party on November 13th. Be sure not to miss this one… it’s definitely a favorite! It’s a night full of fun, gaming, excellent prizes and maybe even a surprise guest… or two. Be present and you will find out! Welcome Aboard ~ Please help us give a warm welcome to the newest member of our management team ~ Tonya Ledford, Director of Housekeeping. She comes to us with much experience and we are happy to have her on our team! Believe it or not…the holidays are here ~ I am so grateful to spend this time with YOU! Susan Says… We’ve made it to the Holiday Season! Get ready, we have many things on the calendar for everyone. The first item I’d like to mention is the shuttle to Lone Star National Bank for those who have banking needs. LSNB visited Independence Hill throughout the past several months hosting two ice cream socials and a Bingo. They’ll be visiting monthly with fun activities for your participation—see posted flyers Susan Warriner for details. In the meantime, the dates for the shuttle Activities & to Lone Star National Bank are November 4th & Transportation Director 19th. There are two outings to the Majestic Theatre; a crowd-pleasing stage adaptation of “Dirty Dancing”, and the USAF Band of the West’s Veteran’s Day Concert. For the shoppers —the crafty ladies of IH have met every Saturday morning throughout the year (and many days throughout the week) using their talents and skills to make beautiful handcrafted items for the RAF Benefit Craft Sale. You’ll find scarves, wraps, shawls, bags, decorations, and much, much more. Please take a moment to stop and shop in the Coffee Pub on November 7th, you won’t be sorry and you’ll probably find something for yourself or for a loved one—the gift giving season is here! “I’m so very thankful to have you all in my life and I wish you a Wonderful Thanksgiving!” ~Susan Warriner Thought for the Month: “Age is something that doesn’t matter, unless you are a cheese.” ~ Luis Bunuel Michelle Houriet Executive Director From the Kitchen... Thanksgiving is right around the corner! We hope you will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving lunch with us on November 27th. We will prepare approximately 400 pounds of turkey and 200 pounds of ham for our residents. Remember to save some room for our delicious pumpkin and pecan pies! Please make reservations for your family if they will be joining you. A memo will be sent out as the time nears.
