All school rules apply. All Etiwanda High School dress code and behavior rules must be followed. It should go without saying that smoking (cigarettes, vapor and/or e-cigarettes), consumption of alcohol and/or drugs of any kind are not allowed. Breaking this rule will result in you being sent home immediately at your parent’s expense. When we are at the hotel, you may not leave the hotel grounds. During free time at the hotel, boys are not allowed in any of the girl’s rooms and girls are not allowed in any of the boy’s rooms. You may sit and socialize in the hallways. Please be respectful of any guests at the hotel who are not a part of the MER. Stay clear of their rooms and give them space in the elevators/hallways/breakfast areas. 2. You are representing the Etiwanda Music Program. All of the character and integrity that Mr. Hackworth expects at tournaments and other band events should be repeated here. The band program has a professional reputation worldwide. We need to keep it that way. If the hotel has room balconies, or patios, the door/window is to remain closed at all times. No students are allowed on patios or room balconies. No throwing items out windows. 3. While you are on this trip, whatever Mr. Hackworth, Ms. McMahon, or any other of the chaperones directs you to do, you must do. In a given situation we may not have time to explain why we are asking you to do something because of safety or other reasons. It is important that you follow our directions without argument. Pillows, chairs, towels, blankets, sheets and other room items must stay in the room. During free time, your hotel room door must be propped all the way open. (Not just a crack.) Pillows, suitcases, chairs, etc. work well to prop open doors. When it is “lights out” time at the hotel we will “tape” you in your room. Once you are taped in your room, you may not leave your room. If you have an emergency, please contact Ms. McMahon or one of the chaperones. Every morning we will call you to make sure you are awake. We will then stop by your room, ensure you are awake, and un-tape the door. If the tape to your room is broken before we un-tape the room, you will be referred to Mr. Hackworth for consequences. If you accidentally, exit the room while it is taped, immediately call one of the chaperones. Keep your things organized while in the room. When it’s time to pack up, be sure you check all outlets for phone chargers. Be sure to check restrooms and room for all belongings. On the morning of the last day, we will be doing a room check before we leave the hotel. At the time of the room check, all students who stayed in that room must wait for a chaperone to check the room. Here is w hat we are looking for; 1. 4. If you are “on time” you are late! 5. Never go any place alone. When we give you time to go on your own you must have another student with you. This is an important rule for your safety. 6. If your boyfriend or girlfriend is also on the trip you can “hang out” together and sit next to each other at events or performances, but you must show discretion. Kissing, hugging, and other forms of PDA as defined by Mr. Hackworth are not allowed. Not following this rule will result in the couple being separated during the trip’s activities. Junior Staff 1. 2. You may be needed by Ms. McMahon or one of the other chaperones to communicate important information (i.e. schedule updates, meal changes, etc) to the members of your section. If asked to do so please make sure you speak to each member of your section individually. Do not tell one member of your section to “pass it on.” —All trash is picked up, and the room is not damaged in any way. —All furniture is put back the way it was when you arrived. —Leave all drawers and closets open so we can quickly check to We need your help to communicate with us. If a member of your section has a problem, is injured, needs medical assistance, or is doing anything that is unsafe, communicate this information immediately to one of the chaperones. Medications make sure they are empty. —If all of the above is not done, we will go to the other rooms and return to your room at the end to check again. Wait in the room for us to return. No orders for food delivery! If you are taking prescription medication, it is your responsibility to go to the medical chaperone’s room to get your medication. Any medication that needs to be dispensed while we are away from the hotel will be taken with us and kept with the medical chaperone. 1. If you need any medical attention at any time during the trip, contact a junior staff member or chaperone. You may be told to wait on the bus while the other students have free time or tour an attraction. 2. You may be told to stay with one of the chaperones, or Mr. Hackworth during free time. 3. Breaking a rule that is also a school rule could also result in consequences with EHS administration upon return.
