CARDBOARD CITY IS HERE!
Our youth group has been studying causes of homelessness and what can be done about it. We have now constructed homes of cardboard boxes and are living outside in solidarity with the homeless until after the 11:30
Mass on Sunday. Participants may bring one pillow or
one blanket. To keep warm they have lined their box
with rags and shredded newspaper and layered their
clothing. They were not allowed to bring food along and
parents could not bring food to them. Teens will be begging for your support for the St. Vincent de Paul Society
after all weekend Masses. Please pray for those struggling to keep their families together in their own homes.
Studies show that most Americans do not have enough
resources to be able to sustain themselves more than
eight weeks in the event of job loss of serious illness. In
other words, this could be any one of us!
PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION
The first grading period ended on November 12 and report cards will be available at Parent-Teacher Conferences on Sunday, November 23 between 10:30 and
11:30 AM. Any parent who is unable to attend the conferences is asked to call the office or see the catechist to
schedule an appointment at another time.
In anticipation of the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be
no classes on Wednesday, November 26. The sacramental preparation classes will meet Tuesday, November 25.
PRAYER CHAIN
Could there be anything more comforting than feeling
the Lord’s presence? We have this every time we turn
to Him in prayer. He is always there to help us and to

us to join you in prayer, call or text Shirley or email

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER16
THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY
IN ORDINARY TIME
(Lec. 157)
1) Proverbs 31: 10-13, 19-20, 30-31
2) 1 Thessalonians 5: 1-6
3) Matthew 25: 14-30 or 25: 14-15, 19-21
FOCUS:
Let the light of faith overcome our fears of the darkness
and of the unknown.
The Lord graced each of us with many abilities. These
abilities give us the strength to confront life’s complexity
and, with the help of our Lord, enable us to reach new
heights. Let a fearless desire to please the Lord fill our
lives.
LITURGY OF THE WORD
The Book of Proverbs praises the worthy wife who
brings honor and good. In the second reading, Saint
Paul confirms that we are children of light. Our concern
is to be ready for Jesus’ return. Our hearts are certain
that the Savior will return at any moment. Jesus teaches
us to use our gifts to the fullest.

know of someone who does, please drop it by the SESR
school office. We would greatly appreciate it!
CARE NOTES
Those who have experienced the loss of a loved one
may find that their pain and sense of loss is more real
during the holidays. As much as others may want to,
they sometimes cannot make things better, and may
even be impatient with the prolonged grief that many
experience. Whether the loss is fresh, or the anniversary of a loved one’s death, getting through the holidays
can be a challenge. The bereaved can learn from others
who have gone before them in this experience. Several
CareNotes are now available in the church vestibule to
offer options for making choices that may offer some
comfort, peace and moments of healing during the holidays. Please take a moment to review the CareNotes
and select those that will help you in the healing process.

COLLECTION FOR THE CATHOLIC
CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
Next week’s Collection for the Catholic Campaign for
Human Development (CCHD) needs your help. CCHD
was founded to end the cycle of poverty in the United
States by funding organizations that help people help
themselves. With the tradition of improving education,
housing situations, and economic development, CCHD
continues to make a positive impact on communities
nationwide. Your contribution will defend human dignity
and help those living on the margins of our society.
Please give to the CCHD Collection.
MEDICAID EXPANSION COMMUNITY MTG.
Please join Catholic Charities of St. Louis and our partners, Metropolitan Congregations United, and Missouri
Health Care for All, for the first St. Charles Community
Meeting on Medicaid Expansion. You will learn about
the need for Medicaid Expansion in Missouri, important
updates for the 2015 Legislative Session, and how you
can get involved and take action to ensure that 300,000+
Missourians receive access to health care. The St.
Charles Community Meeting on Medicaid Expansion will
take place Tuesday, November 18th from 7-8 PM at
First United Methodist Church (801 First Capitol Dr.,
St. Charles, MO 63301). Please RSVP to Meg Olson,
[email protected] or 314-367-5500, ext. 1128.
As Pope Francis wrote in The Joy of the Gospel, charity
means “working to eliminate the structural causes of
poverty and to promote the integral development of the
poor. This means education, access to health care, and
above all employment.” We know that expanding Medicaid certainly increases access to health care for so
many of our neighbors, and it also creates jobs in Missouri. So join Catholic Charities as we live out the Gospel and work to eliminate a significant structural cause of
poverty in our state!
CATHOLIC SINGLES GROUP
Catholic Singles group is having a Christmas Dance on

SPIRITUALITY WORKSHOP
Calling all men of the parish. We are hosting a spirituality workshop for all the men of the parish. The workshop
is being held here at St. Robert’s on Saturday, November 22nd from 9:00 AM to Noon. The workshop is being
led by Father Mitch Doyen. Father Doyen is currently
the Associate Pastor at Assumption Parish in O’Fallon,
Missouri. Fr. Doyen has devoted a great deal of his
Catholic ministry to inspiring men to enhance their spiritual experience with God. Father Doyen has titled this
workshop: Walking with men in Scripture finding our
way into the Heart of Christ. Father Doyen has spent
24 years as a priest in high school ministry prior to his
assignment at Assumption in O’Fallon. Most recently,
Father Doyen was president of St. Mary’s High School in
South St. Louis. He has been very involved in Men’s
Work, sharing his faith journey with other men who are
willing to walk the journey with him. Father Doyen plans
to connect his life experience with the stories of Moses,
David, Elijah, Peter, and Paul. He will then invite all of
the men of our parish to make similar connections to
their own life stories. We are asking you to put aside
three hours of your time and come join us on Saturday,
November 22nd and enhance your spiritual experience
with God.
