Take a Step Toward the Law of Love
Oh, how much more of the journey do we have to make
in order to actually live the new law—of charity, of love!
Looking in newspapers or on television, we see so many wars
between Christians: how does this happen? Within the People of God, there are so many wars! How many wars of
envy, of jealousy, are waged in neighborhoods, in the workplace! Even within the family itself, there are so many internal wars! We must ask the Lord to make us correctly understand this law of love. How beautiful it is to love one another
as true brothers and sisters. How beautiful! Let’s do something today. We may all have likes and dislikes; many of us
are perhaps a little angry with someone. Then let us say to
the Lord, “Lord, I am angry with this or that person; I am
praying to You for him or her.” To pray for those with
whom we are angry is a beautiful step toward that law of
love. Shall we take it? Let’s take it today!

An elderly man, harassed by the taunts of the
neighborhood children, devised a scheme. He offered to

Let’s think about our talents. Some talents are special. Some athletes are so tall or can jump so high that
they can slam dunk easily. Some runners love to compete in marathons 26 miles long. Some musicians can
play any song they hear. Some people have brains for
doing math and figuring out how to build buildings and
roads. Not everyone has these special talents in the
same, equal way. But there are talents every single one
of us has.
We have the ability to show love and kindness, to
listen and respect one another. Jesus does not want us
to bury our talents but to use them to love another.

Dear Parishioners,
Have you ever wondered why the servant in the Gospel
who protected the money was punished? After all, that
money was not his to squander, yet he is not rewarded.
Of course, this Gospel is not about money. It is about
the gifts and talents God has given to each of us. We are
to use them to build up the Church and to help others.
This month we are asking our students to use generosity
by donating canned food to the food drive. Every November we create fleece blankets called Hugs for Kids
that are donated to local children’s hospitals. We gather
money to purchase fleece, cut the edges and tie knots,
and pray for the sick child who will receive the blanket.
As educators, we want our students to experience the joy
of giving and helping others. By focusing on others, we
learn the way to keep your hearts and minds focused on
God.
We’re asking for your generosity this Tuesday, November
18th for the Blood Drive. There is always a great need
for blood and blood products in our community. You
are welcome to give just a little bit that will help so
much!
Keep those Box Tops and Campbell’s labels coming as
well! We are always grateful for your help!

Dear Parishioners:
All parents are invited to attend class with their children Sunday, November 23 at 10am in the cafeteria for our annual
Advent activity.
Taylor Swift and the like have nothing on Mr. Mike
Dreyer’s pre-Confirmation class! If you were in the
building last Sunday you probably heard “The Real
Presence Rap” - complete with drums, clapping, and
moves we haven’t seen since Michael Jackson
passed. They were a great success and deserve
much applause for their sharing!
Scott and Bryce Westerfeld also got in
on the rapping with a song of their own.
And did you see the First Grade Saints? Mrs. Dana Saale and her classroom helpers prepared the first grade PSR students in learning about their
patron saint. They all paraded to each classroom in costume and taught
us what they learned.
Continue to pray for our First Reconciliation students, who will celebrate
the Sacrament on Thursday, December 4 at 7pm in church.
Thank you for your continued prayers for our Confirmation Candidates
who will celebrate the Rite of Signing on Sunday, December 7 at the
8:30am Mass.

It’s that time of year again. SCB has 31 teens and 8 chaperones traveling on the 2015 ProLife Pilgrimage to Washington DC. As always, we have a few fundraisers coming
up that we would like to share with you.
November 23: Bake Sale in the narthex, just in time for
Thanksgiving! We will be selling breads, pies, cakes, and
multiple desserts.
Poinsettia Sale: Red, white or blue poinsettias are being
offered this year. See the order form below.
Raffle: We are selling chances to win an American Girl
Doll Bitty Baby and a $100 Target gift card. We will be
selling these on November 22 and at our Vendor Fair on
December 7th. Winners will be drawn at our Shop4Life

erty and to promote the integral development of the
poor. This means education, access to health care, and
above all employment.” We know that expanding
Medicaid certainly increases access to health care for so
many of our neighbors, and it also creates jobs in Missouri. So join Catholic Charities as we live out the Gospel and work to eliminate a significant structural cause of
poverty in our state!

Holiday Boutique on Saturday, November 15 in the multipurpose facility from 9am—2pm. The event is free and open to
the public. We will feature unique booths representing gifts, specialty items, crafts and well-known products We are also

Next week’s Collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)
needs your help. CCHD was founded to end the cycle of poverty in the United
States by funding organizations that help people help themselves. With the tradition
of improving education, housing situations, and economic development, CCHD continues to make a positive impact on communities nationwide. Your contribution will
defend human dignity and help those living on the margins of our society. Just recently, in addressing the tragedy in Ferguson, CCHD awarded $150,000 to the Archdiocese to support Archbishop Carlson’s call on our Church to “dismantle systemic
racism.” Please give to the CCHD Collection.

In the late 19th century, St. Louis Archbishop Peter Kenrick requested the Little Sisters of the
Poor to care for the elderly poor of the area. The Little Sisters started their ministry in four
empty houses in 1869. When asked what they would do with the empty houses, they responded, “It is always in holy poverty that we begin; Divine Providence will provide.” In a short
time, all the materials they would need were provided. When offered an annuity, the mother
general declined, saying, “If we were to accept such gifts instead of begging, we should cease to
be the Little Sisters of the Poor, and would become the Little Sisters of the Rich.”
The mission of the Little Sisters of the Poor is to continue the work of Saint Jeanne Jugan in
offering to the neediest elderly of every race and religion a home where they will be welcomed
as Christ, cared for as family and accompanied with dignity until God calls them to Himself.
Please welcome them as they speak to us next weekend about their work and how you can
help.

Invitation to Divorced and Separated Catholics
The holidays can be difficult for divorced and separated families. Make your healing a priority in the new year by attending the new Catholic’s Divorce Survival Guide. The 12-week program follows lay men and women on the journey to true
healing, along with Catholic experts who address denial, anger, grief, guilt, forgiveness, money, the kids, the ex-spouse,
spirituality, annulment and much more. Immaculate Conception—Dardenne is hosting the program beginning January 8,
2015. There is a $25 fee which will cover all materials needed. (Scholarships are available for anyone who cannot afford

If you are homebound, or if you know of someone in our parish, who cannot get to church regularly and would like to
receive Holy Communion at home, some of our Extraordinary Ministers would be happy to offer Communion. One of
