DECEMBER 2014 Program Calendar For 20 years, providing professional programs of emotional support, education and hope for people impacted by cancer, at no charge, so that no one faces cancer alone. As we get closer to the end of the year, many of us tend to turn inward and reflect on what has happened over the past 12 months and what we are thankful for. Gratitude has become a popular topic as a way to improve our mental state and wellbeing. “Studies show that we can deliberately cultivate gratitude, and can increase our well-being and happiness by doing so. In addition, grateful thinking–and especially expression of it to others–is associated with increased levels of energy, optimism, and empathy.” - Psychology Today One way to keep the gratitude flowing is by starting a “Gratitude Journal” in which you can list things throughout the week that you are thankful for. It may not seem like a big step; but changing your thinking habits to focus on the positive, even for a few minutes out of the day, can work wonders for your outlook on life.
