April Calendar PDF - Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia

APRIL 2015
Program Calendar
For 21 years, providing
professional programs
of emotional support,
education and hope for
people impacted by
cancer, at no charge,
so that no one faces
cancer alone.
We are so thankful at CSCGP that Spring is here and snow is gone. We have many things
to be thankful for as we welcome a variety of new programs in the next couple months.
One exciting development is that we will be offering two separate weeks of “Kids Camp”
at Gilda’s Club in Warminster as well as our first week of “Kids Camp” at Ridgeland
in Philadelphia! Space is very limited so we are encouraging people to register as soon
as possible. We will be having a week of fun themes, crafts and games. We provide lunch
and snacks each day as well. Contact [email protected] to register
or call 215-441-3290, ext.115.
Kids Camp in Warminster
Week 1: Monday, June 22 - Friday, June 26 • 9:30am-3:30pm
Week 2: Monday, July 6 - Friday, July 10 • 9:30am-3:30pm
Kids Camp at Ridgeland in Philadelphia
Week 3: Monday, July 13 - Friday, July 17 • 9:30-3:30pm
Lastly, we want everyone to be aware of our Flea Market in June! It will be held Saturday,
June 6 from 8am-1pm at Gilda’s Club in Warminster. We are accepting donations of
gently used items including clothing, furniture, books, toys, tools and jewelry. We cannot
accept TVs or computers. Please contact [email protected] if you’d like
to drop anything off. Aly can also be reached at 215-441-3290.
We look forward to seeing you at these upcoming events! Thank you for being part of
our community.

AT DOYLESTOWN HOSPITAL
At Ridgeland
Every Wednesday 1-2:30pm • Mindful Meditation
Mindful meditation, led by Dr. Seran Schug, is a simple and
gentle practice that engenders inner strength and resilience.
In this body/mind group, we will practice mindfulness meditation as well as engage in a variety of creative relaxation
and contemplative exercises. We will also talk about how
to embody mindfulness in our daily lives so that we can
face challenges with less reactivity and greater calm and
purpose. Through this personal and communal experience,
we hope to strengthen the sense of self-integrity and wholeness that may be fragile during times of illness and distress.
Jin Shin Jyutsu: Wednesday, April 1 • 10-11am
Learn how to do self-help “holds” that you can do at home to help relieve symptoms such as stress, anxiety, nausea,
fatigue, and sleeplessness. Certified Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner, Hannelore Devlin, has extensive experience teaching
these techniques to people living with cancer to be used as a complement to medical care. This class will be held monthly.
Please register so Hannelore can accommodate for class size.

Yoga Therapy for People Affected by Cancer (During and After Treatment)
Please join us for this gentle 8 week program to help you connect to your own innate healing abilities.
Instructor, Dianne Miller, is offering an 8 week Yoga Therapy program for individuals that have had cancer. Yoga Therapy
is a place where East meets West. It is the application of yoga to enhance health and wellness. She will utilize traditional
yoga tools, breath work, meditation, intention, hand postures, and gentle body postures to help you connect to your body.
This will help to balance the body and the mind and awaken the spirit—your true self. Dianne has been a physical therapist
for over 20 years and a yoga instructor for 12 years. She is now in the Integrative Yoga Therapy internship at Kirpalu with
Joseph LePage.
