Parish Mission Statement

“Over a Century of Catholic Tradition
Serving Our Community”
Parish Mission Statement
We, the parishioners of Saint Anastasia, are a strong faith based community,
grounded in more than a century of Catholic tradition rooted in worship and
service. Compelled by the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are committed to
growing in a deeper relationship with God and with one another. We strive to
become a more vibrant parish by inspiring an atmosphere of belonging, of
welcoming, and by promoting opportunities to share and spread our Catholic
Faith, so that we may be more united as one parish community.

REMEMBER OUR DECEASED
Please pray for all the deceased members of the St. Anastasia Faith Community that they may be welcomed into the
happiness of eternal life especially, Michelina Lambiase, Julia Bucciarelli, Ann Cope.
Dear Parishioners of Saint Anastasia Parish,
The Gospel parable this week is one familiar to all of us. It is interesting to note that when the man going on the
journey called in his servants, he gave each one something. True, they weren’t all given the same amount – some received
more than the others. However, everybody got something. No one was excluded.
Life is unfair. Some people have more than others, some people get all the breaks. As the saying goes, “Sometimes
you’re the bug. Sometimes you’re the windshield.” We can’t go through life lamenting the fact that things are not always
equitable. The bottom line is that each and every one of us has been given gifts and talents in abundance. They may not
seem like a lot, but it’s up to God to make the best of them.
Monsignor Peter Cavallucci was a beloved pastor in Norristown, PA. who was known for a saying that he used at
the conclusion of every sermon he gave, every blessing he imparted, every hospital room he visited. Monsignor Cavallucci
would say, “You do your best. God will do the rest.” In this simple saying is some solid theology, a great deal of wisdom,
and a wonderful reminder of how to live. God has blessed us. May we not bury our talents, but rather use them to the best
of our abilities. Don’t worry if it doesn’t seem to be enough. God will pick up the slack.
Have a great week,
Fr. Colagreco

NOVEMBER 30TH CHURCH BULLETIN DEADLINE
Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday our printer has advised us
that the deadline for the November 30th Church Bulletin is
Wednesday, November 19th at 9:00 AM
PARISH COMMUNITY
As one parish community, here is an opportunity to share and
spread our Catholic faith. Once again, our parish is looking
for volunteers to cook and slice a turkey or turkey breast for
the homeless this Thanksgiving at The Life Center in Upper
Darby and the Wesley House in Chester. The Life Center
daily feeds over 300 men and women and there are over 500
children and their moms who are homeless at the Wesley
House in Chester.
Last year, our parish provided over 200 cooked turkeys for
these 2 shelters. Catholic Health East, on the grounds of SAP,
also contributed greatly to this project. This is truly a
community endeavor! This year, Temple Sholom will be
hosting the interfaith prayer service on Tuesday,
November 25th at 7:30 PM. The Temple is located at 55 N.
Church Lane in Broomall. Hats, gloves, and scarves for the
homeless of Delaware County will be collected. If you are
able to cook a turkey or turkey breast, please carve it and then
wrap it in foil. The turkeys may be brought up to the school
parking lot in front of school at 9:30 AM, Tuesday,
November 25th and on the side of St. Anastasia’s Church
between 3:15 PM and 4:15 PM, also before the interfaith
prayer service at Temple Sholom, between 6:45 PM and 7:30
PM. If you have any questions, contact Sister Susan at
[email protected] or 484-422-8861.
“CHRISTMAS GIVING TREE”
The Christmas Giving Tree will be in the front and back of
church next weekend, November 22nd and November 23rd
and the weekend of November 29th and November 30th. It
will contain ornaments with gift items listed on the back. Take
as many tags as you wish. Please return the gift items, (with
the tags attached) the weekend of December 6th and
December 7th to the boxes located at the front left entrance
and the rear of church. This year St. John’s Hospice, The
Sisters of St. Joseph Welcome Center, Divine Providence
Village, and those we help in our community through the St.
Vincent de Paul Society will benefit from your generosity. Gift
Cards and Cash are welcome! Place your Gift Certificates or
Cash Donation (with Giving Tree written on the front of the
envelope) in the collection basket the weekend of December
6th and December 7th. Call Linda Lawler at the rectory,
356-1613, with any questions.
ADVENT BY CANDLELIGHT FOR WOMEN
Advent by Candlelight is scheduled for Thursday,
December 11 from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Sister Sheila Galligan,
IHM will be our speaker. Details and brochures will be
available in a few weeks.
THANKSGIVING DAY MASS—NOVEMBER 27TH
This Thanksgiving, the guitar group will be providing the music
for the Mass at 8:45 AM. During the celebration, we will be
honoring the Kennedy family: Charlie, Lee and Pat. For the
past 20 years, they have so graciously and generously shared
their musical talent, time and person to this Mass. Truly, these
gifts could not be measured! Charlie, Lee and Pat, know we are
so grateful!
The offertory collection taken will go towards the Vincent de
Paul Society in this parish and their outreach to our community.
CHRISTMAS CHOIR
We again wish to increase our numbers for the Christmas Eve
8:30 P M Mass. You only need to attend 3 rehearsals!
Thursdays December 3, 10 and 17 from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM.
Call 610-604-4898 and speak to Norbert, our director

substantially increase the amount of your gift.
ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
The good news of today’s Gospel is the extravagance of what is
being given us. All we need do is be faithful in “small
matters.” The cost of fidelity has no comparison to the reward
given. When you give the furniture, household items and
clothing you no longer use to the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul, you are sharing God’s extravagant love.
