PARISH MISSION STATEMENT

tradition rooted in worship and service. Compelled by the Good News of Jesus Christ, we are committed to growing in a
deeper relationship with God and with one another. We strive to become a more vibrant parish by inspiring an atmosphere
of belonging, of welcoming, and by promoting opportunities to share and spread our Catholic Faith, so that we may be more

Dear Parishioners of Saint Anastasia Parish,
Often when we hear accounts of those who followed Jesus we envision people simply waiting for something to do, or
someplace to go. However, quite the opposite was true. The people Jesus called had jobs, they had families, they had obligations
and involvements just as we do. They weren’t just standing around. In today’s Gospel, John and the two disciples with him asked
Jesus, “Where are you staying?” They were intrigued by him and interested in finding out more about him. When Jesus answered,
“Come, and you will see” off they went. The rest, as they say, is history.
We are no different than those three men. We search for meaning in our lives, we look for fulfillment, we seek the Lord.
However, so many times our efforts are rather half-hearted. We’re not too willing to let go of things. Granted, we aren’t being
asked to leave it all and follow as John and the other two in the Gospel did. Finding Jesus and following him means that we might
have to “unload” a few things to make room for what we will be taking on. How reluctant are we to change our ways, even in small
things! How fearful we are to try something new or different! We want more, but we are unwilling to part with anything.
May the Lord awaken within us a desire to seek him and serve him. If it means letting go of something, may we do so
freely. If it means taking on something new, may we do so freely. He’s not asking us to leave our families, our jobs, our homes.
Let us pray for the willingness to do what it takes and truly find out “where he is staying.” May we find him staying in our hearts.
Have a great week,
Father Colagreco

CAREER DAY 2015
An invitation to all Parents and Friends of St. Annie’s who are willing to share
their career and life experiences with St. Annie’s students!
When: Friday, January 30, 2015, 1:00 PM – 3:15 PM
As part of the Catholic Schools Week celebration, St. Anastasia School will be hosting Career Day on
Friday afternoon, January 30.
We would like to expose our students to the different career opportunities that exist today, and what better
way than to ask parents and friends to share their various careers and work experiences with the students. We
are looking for parent or community volunteers to make short presentations (approximately 30 minutes, three
times) to students in grades K – 8, explaining to them what they do as part of their jobs or careers. In the
past, we have heard from bankers, bakers, mail carriers, TV producers, doctors, attorneys, nurses, teachers,
vocation directors, construction workers, engineers, and many more.
The afternoon has always been a great success. Please consider volunteering a couple of hours of your time to
give a presentation and help us make this year’s endeavor a success as well!
Please fill out the form below, and return to the Main Office,
Attn: Career Day c/o Beth Doyle or for more information or to register
via email, contact Beth Doyle at [email protected].
Thank you in advance for volunteering your time or inviting a friend or relative to make this
experience a huge success as it has been in the past.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
In the Gospel today, Jesus asks “What are you looking for?”
Often we are looking for happiness in very selfish ways, but we
find that when we look for ways to make others happy, it is then
that we truly become happy. As you make your gift to the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul, know that you are a sign of
God’s love to those who are suffering and you give them
reason to believe and to trust.

World Meeting of Families
September 2015
Love is our Mission: the Family Fully
Alive!
January 2015:
“Lord, please hold our troops in Your loving hands. Protect
them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the
selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. We ask
this in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior, Amen”
The Meaning of Human Sexuality
“Love is Our Mission” because God created us for a
reason:
to love us, and for us to love one another.
THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK
The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is for people who
are seriously ill or seriously weakened from advanced age.
It is important to note here that serious illness does NOT mean
TERMINAL illness. Nor does it mean an illness that puts a
person in immediate danger of death. It simply means any
illness that seriously impairs the health of a person. If you
know that you are scheduled for a hospital stay, please call the
Priest a day or two before you leave the parish, and make
arrangements to receive this very consoling Sacrament.
God’s covenant with Israel and the Church reveals what
God’s love is like: tender and passionate, but also steadfast
and sacrificial.
The bodily, earthly world has spiritual significance.
Tangible things sacramentals, acts of charity, sacred art and
culture, our liturgical feasts and fasts - all of these have the
capacity to reveal the glory of God.
AID FOR FRIENDS IN NEED OF MEALS
Aid For Friends is a program that provides meals for people
who are confined to their homes because of age or illness.
Meals are prepared by parishioners and stored at the parish in a
freezer located in the Church basement for distribution when
needed. For more information concerning Aid For Friends,
please contact Cathy Grogan at 356-2053.
Marriage, as one of the sacraments, reveals this to us in a
special way.
The bodies of the spouses, in the complementarity of their
masculinity and femininity, have the unique role of
revealing God’s nature as a communion of life-giving love.
OFFERTORY GIFTS
Are you or a family member celebrating a Birthday or
Anniversary? Why not make the day even more special by
taking up the Offertory Gifts at the Mass you are attending. If
you would like to participate please let one of the ushers know
before Mass begins.
How can a man and a woman imitate God’s love together?
How can they live in a way that is intimate and committed,
joyful and merciful, forgiving and fertile?
Through their participation in the life of the Church, this
kind of love becomes possible.
Don’t let
sexual violence
silence you.
God’s love is not an audition, or a temporary experiment,
or a self-seeking negotiation.
In the same way, marriage is never a private, inward
romance, but always discovers its true nature in relation to
God and his wider purposes.
Healing can start with a call.
Dial 1-888-800-8780 or visit
www.pacrimevictims.com/healing
A sacramental marriage is called to be a little parable of
God’s love, always ordered to joy and service.
All Catholic sexual ethics flow from these ideas.
