The Junior Civic League of Chillicothe was formed in 1950 by three
women who decided there was a need in the area for a women’s
community service group.
Since then, the league’s mission and philosophy have evolved into
building partnerships by receiving contributions and performing
fundraising activities to give back to the community.
The League currently consists of 50 women between the ages of 21
and 48 who serve on six primary committees. The annual Gala has
grown into the League’s largest event and fundraiser. Over the past
25 years, nearly $1 Million has been raised through Gala. Those
funds have been given back to the community through over 200
charitable organizations.
The League is appreciative of the interest and support of the
community through the years.

Camp Cody
“Sensational Summer Camp”
Your kids will never want to come home after spending 2 weeks
at “Camp Cody”, one of New England’s premier traditional
summer camps. From water skiing and ziplining to horseback
riding and swimming, Camp Cody has something for every
kid. Cody’s campers come from all across the USA and a dozen
countries. Your kids should join them this summer!
We were given three two-week sessions to auction. Each
session is valued at $3300. They do require a minimum bid of
$1900. The session dates are June 21-July4 or August 2-August
15. They are for ages 7-15 and for boys or girls. This is only
available for first time camp attendees. There is an additional
$200 per session registration fee that would be paid directly to
Camp Cody. Families much register within 30 days of purchase.

The Giving Tree
The Junior Civic League is celebrating 26 years of giving this
Christmas season. Each year as part of the Giving Tree package,
we “adopt” three families who could use some extra help this
holiday season. We take their wish lists, and our members,
current and sustaining, provide gifts for each member of the
families selected. This package truly captures the spirit of
Christmas. Each family’s needs and wish lists have been fulfilled
thanks to the generous donations of our current membership and

Our First Family
Our first family consists of a dad and mom and their five children.
There are three boys and two girls ranging from ages three to
fourteen. Mom takes on a full time job outside of the home while
dad stays home to take care of the children and their needs. Two
of the boys attend Pioneer Center and have cognitive delays as
well as gross, fine motor and speech delays. It was a pleasure to
spend time with this family and each individual child. They are
looking forward to Christmas this year and are very grateful for
this opportunity.
Our Second Family
Our second family has a grandma, aunt and child. The little boy,
age 2, lives with grandma and his aunt or ‘adoptive mom’. He
was born blind, is unable to walk, talk and suffers from cognitive
loss due to drug abuse during pregnancy. His adoptive mom
suffers from medical conditions which makes it difficult for her
to financially provide for all his needs, most of which are not
covered by insurance. We were able to find some special items
for this thankful family so they can have a wonderful Christmas.
Our Third Family
Our third family includes a dad, mom and two children. The son
is 2 years old and currently receives speech and occupational
therapy for developmental delays through the Pioneer Center.
His sister is 8 months old and looks up to her big brother. Dad
has cerebral palsy and other delays as well. We enjoyed our visit
with this nice family and are excited to give them a Christmas
they won’t forget.

SILENT AUCTION RULES
1. All items in the Silent Auction will have a bid sheet nearby. Place
bid number and amount you wish to bid on the sheet. Bids must be
in whole dollar increments.
2. Each increase in bid must exceed the maximum bid stated in
order to constitute a valid bid; therefore, the highest bid will be the
last bid. If you wish to enter a second bid for an item, please enter
your bid on the next available line. A changed or crossed out bid
will not be accepted.
3. Please do not remove the bid sheets from the tables. It is very
important that the sheets are consistent with the items displayed
at their particular location.
4. The Silent Auction tables will open at 6:30pm. There are two
rooms for the silent auction. The first room will close shortly
after the live auction ends and the second room will close shortly
after that. A 10, 5, and 1 minute warning will be given. When the
auction end is announced, kindly stop your bidding and exit the
closed Silent Auction area. The winners will be announced soon
after closing. All sales are final. There will be no exchanges or
refunds.
5. A bidder board will be posted at the conclusion of the Silent
Auction. Successful bidders as well as the successful bid amount
will be posted on this board for patron to determine if they are the
winning bidder.
6. Successful bidders must pay the cashier in full for their purchase
by cash, check or charge the night of the event. Winning bidders
must take their items with them tonight. If necessary, we can send
an additional invoice if the winner also purchased a live auction
package.
7. Props used for display are not included as part of the auction
item unless specified in the item description and are to remain
property of JCL.

The Lovely ladies of JCL, past and present, will be selling flashing
necklaces and rings for $10. At the beginning of the live auction,
everyone wearing a blinking ring or necklace will be asked to stand
to participate in the “Heads or Tails” game. Players will choose to
put their hands on their “head” or on their “tail”. We will toss a coin
and losers will be asked to sit while winners will be able to choose
whether to move their hands before the next toss. We will continue
