SISTER PARISH UPDATE
Proverb: Piti, piti, zwazo fe nich li.
(Little by little the bird builds its nest.)
The proverb remains the same as additional
activities have been bringing the rebuilding of
St. Genevieve Church closer to a reality. The
engineering firm came out to Zoranje and
they met with the parish council to explain
the building process. While out there, the firm rented
three houses for the workers to live in during the
project. They are ready to get started and the only need
is for PROCHE to sign off to begin.
Planning has begun for the next trip to Haiti in early
2015. If you are interested please speak with Fr. Cid
either after Mass or call the office at 860-756-4034.

in Courageous Conversation – Tues., Dec. 9; 6:308:30 p.m.
All are invited to hear Professors Najib Awad, a Syrian
Protestant Christian, and Feryal Salem, a CanadianAmerican Muslim, colleagues at Hartford Seminary, share
stories of how faith shapes their understanding and
actions. Their reflections and dialogue will enliven and
enlighten our own conversation. We are people of faith
and hope. Yet in daily life, and in events we witness in the
world around us, the faith that sustains us is challenged
by difficult realities. We ask, then: what does it mean
to live faith-fully at all times? Through insights into
each other’s faiths, we can know, appreciate, and more

St. Patrick-St. Anthony and St. Genevieve,
May the Lord give you peace.
On Veteran’s Day we tolled our bell in memory of the many
veterans who have died. We remember the gift of their lives and
the many people who grieve their loss.
This weekend we welcome Provincial Councilor, Fr. David
Convertino, ofm. Fr. David has visited us in the past to ask our
help in supporting the elderly and infirm friars, the men who are
beginning in our way of life, and our ministries among those
communities that are unable to support themselves. This
weekend we will host our third Franciscan Challenge. I ask you
to commit your support, as you are able. After each of the
Masses, you are invited over to the Franciscan Center for some
refreshments as well as to meet with Fr. David and see the
presentation he has prepared for us.
I thank our Men’s Fellowship for all the work in organizing
and managing our annual Turkey Drive. House of Bread will
receive the turkeys and extras that you bring. I thank you for
your generosity, and those who will enjoy a turkey dinner on

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
Good stewards are like the industrious and reliable
servants in today’s Gospel, prudently using and
multiplying the gifts entrusted to them by God.
LIVING STEWARDSHIP
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish
who seek to responsibly connect their faith in day-to-day
activities, such as participating in community, school
organizations and other efforts.
Thanksgiving thank you as well.
I also remind you that the Hunger Banquet is this
Wednesday, November 19th at the Franciscan Center. Come for a
great lunch and support our partnership with House of Bread.
I again thank our Golf Committee and all who supported
our annual Tournament. We raised over $60,000 in this year’s
tournament. It was a fun day and a great evening. I am grateful
to you for all your support in this great event. The funds raised
will support the ministries of the Franciscan Center. With your
help we continue our many faith formation programs, our
sandwich ministry as well as the meals for Catherine’s Place,
provide space for our many gatherings as well as hosting non-

This weekend we hear the Gospel story of the talents
entrusted to various people. Two use the talents well and find
themselves entrusted with even more. One hides the talent based
on his fear of the one who entrusts the talents. He projects his
fears onto the other, is paralyzed by the fear and unable to be
open to his potential. How many people live with the fear of God
and are paralyzed by that fear, unable to live their potential? The
great gift of Jesus moves us beyond fear and into the great love
that is God. Jesus’ healings and teaching gather men and women,
restore the possibility of living in freedom, living fully human
