There are some photos of the construction
which can be found on the bulletin board at
the back of our church, on the St. Patrick-St.
Anthony Facebook page, or on the St. PatrickSt. Anthony website.
After the first trip to Haiti, Francis Rago wrote three

poems are available on the parish website (go to
Community Outreach, then Our Partners where you’ll
find St. Genevieve.)

Dear Parishioners and Friends at
St. Patrick-St. Anthony and St. Genevieve,
May the Lord give you peace.
This weekend we hear the Gospel of the Transfiguration of
Jesus. The radiance of God shines through him. As we come to
the end of the text the disciples see no one but Jesus alone. He
has eclipsed Moses and Elijah. The Law and the Prophets are no
longer the center of attention. The focus is on the Good News of
God’s presence realized in the mission and ministry of Jesus. As
we enter more deeply into this time of
transformation/transfiguration for ourselves, we realize that like
Jesus we are to radiate the brilliance of God in our world. The
former standards - Law and Prophets - give way to the newness
of God’s revelation. Jesus’ mission is to restore, build up, nurture
and strengthen children, women and men now. We, sharers in

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his only son, Isaac.
St. Paul reminds us that God Himself “did not spare his
own Son.” Are my gifts to the Lord – of my resources, of
my time, of myself – also sacrificial?
LIVING STEWARDSHIP
We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish
who, through fasting, become more conscious of their
faith and its interaction in daily life!
the mission, are engaged in the very same way of being. This is
the season to allow God’s light to shine through us in our prayer,
fasting and alms giving. These ways of being are not to keep any
law but to identify more closely with the one who is the bearer of
the Gospel of God. Jesus prayed - became prayer - fasted from all
the things that were not true to his identity, and shared his gifts
(almsgiving). We are empowered to do the same.
I again ask your prayers for those who suffer oppression due
to their faith. We have seen or heard about terrible suffering by
many people of faith throughout the world. It does not matter
what their experience of God might be or by what name they
realize divine presence. As we considered the rainbow last
weekend in the Noah story, we realized the great diversity of

God’s self-revelation. The injunction in the Gospel is to pray for
your enemies, bless your persecutors. This is the time to pray for
both the oppressed and the oppressors. To pray that we might
each find ways to share in the mission of restoring, healing,
reconciling, and nurturing the gifts of all.
I invite you to join us this season on Mondays at 6 PM in our
chapel for evening prayer. We each bring our own intention and
all gather in prayer for the living of the Gospel - peace
throughout our world.
This week you received a letter announcing the
Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. We will show the DVD
commissioned by the Appeal campaign at community Sunday
next weekend. This letter asks your support for the mission of the
Archdiocese of Hartford. Of particular note is the funding for
Catholic Charities. I ask you to pray about the letter. Allow the
Spirit of God to move you to respond in the way most
appropriate to your integrity. If then you are able to give, I ask
you to consider your situation and give within your means to
this Appeal.
Are You Separated or Divorced? Our ‘New Life’
Program may be for you.
Parishioners Stacie Mawson and Catherine Posteraro will
facilitate a ten week program here at St. Patrick-St.

“safe place” to examine stresses that have or are being
coped with as well as to gain a wider perspective on the
whole experience. Some of the topics to be addressed in
these sessions include self-image, stress, anger, blame
and guilt, loneliness and how to move toward growth.
The first session will be held in the Franciscan Center on
Thursday, March 12 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sessions
thereafter will run weekly on Thursday nights until May
21 (except for Holy Thursday on April 2). To register

The Red Cross is in need of the smiling faces that greet
community members as they check in to donate the
precious gift of blood. This role is known as a Blood
Donor Ambassador. At blood drives hosted primarily
during business hours M-F, Ambassadors make sure that
donors review important information about the donation
process and direct them to a nurse with questions they
might have. After community members donate blood,
the Ambassador offers them a snack and chats with
them as they relax for a bit post-donation. Ambassadors
also encourage donors to become volunteers
themselves. For more information and to sign up,
contact Stephanie Boles, CVA at 860-678-2793.

A Conversation with Pope Francis
Tuesday, March 10; 5:30-9:00 p.m.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: March 6
Pope Francis seems to have a consistent message: "Courageously share your faith in seeking
out the poor and sinners." It sounds so much like the message of Jesus in the Gospels and
fortunately, like Jesus, Pope Francis practices what he preaches! What resources do we have
to make the Gospels come alive in our family and among our friends, but even more, in our
broken world? Come to listen and dialogue with Fr. David about the "whys" and "hows" of
these important questions that our Pope has raised.
Presenter: Fr. David Cinquegrani, C.P.
Suggested Offering: $15.00; includes dinner.
Grace Unleashed: A Fresh Look at the Sacraments
Thursdays, March 12, 19 & 26; 7:00-8:00 p.m.
Join Fr. Tom as he explores our seven Sacraments through a new lens. During the three
sessions, Fr. Tom will consider sacraments of “belonging”, “participation”, and “healing”.
Come and take part in this opportunity to update your faith.
