We will be praying the four mysteries of the rosary. Please join us in church in Our Lady of the Angels chapel at 7 p.m. All are welcome! Dear Parishioners and Friends at St. Patrick-St. Anthony and St. Genevieve, May the Lord give you peace. This weekend we hear the Gospel of the Transfiguration of Jesus. The radiance of God shines through him. As we come to the end of the text the disciples see no one but Jesus alone. He has eclipsed Moses and Elijah. The Law and the Prophets are no longer the center of attention. The focus is on the Good News of God’s presence realized in the mission and ministry of Jesus. As we enter more deeply into this time of transformation/transfiguration for ourselves, we realize that like Jesus we are to radiate the brilliance of God in our world. The former standards - Law and Prophets - give way to the newness of God’s revelation. Jesus’ mission is to restore, build up, nurture and strengthen children, women and men now. We, sharers in ● Did you know our Gaelic and Garlic supper is coming up on March 21? Do you know there is a seating at 1:30 p.m. and another at 5 p.m.? Can you see yourself assisting members of our community as we all enjoy this time together? If so, please contact Trudi in the parish office for more details. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION Abraham was prepared to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. St. Paul reminds us that God Himself “did not spare his own Son.” Are my gifts to the Lord – of my resources, of my time, of myself – also sacrificial? LIVING STEWARDSHIP We are grateful this week for all stewards in our parish who, through fasting, become more conscious of their faith and its interaction in daily life! the mission, are engaged in the very same way of being. This is the season to allow God’s light to shine through us in our prayer, fasting and alms giving. These ways of being are not to keep any law but to identify more closely with the one who is the bearer of the Gospel of God. Jesus prayed - became prayer - fasted from all the things that were not true to his identity, and shared his gifts (almsgiving). We are empowered to do the same. I again ask your prayers for those who suffer oppression due to their faith. We have seen or heard about terrible suffering by many people of faith throughout the world. It does not matter what their experience of God might be or by what name they realize divine presence. As we considered the rainbow last weekend in the Noah story, we realized the great diversity of CATHERINE’S PLACE AT THE FRANCISCAN CENTER FOR URBAN MINISTRY IN COLLABORATION WITH MERCY HOUSING AND SHELTER CORPORATION WE CONTINUE TO NEED ITEMS FOR CATHERINE’S PLACE: Coffee…Butter…Juice…Cereal…Bread (wheat) Paper Towels…Toilet Paper…Sugar 1 gallon ziplock bags Please bring your donations to the plastic bin marked “Catherine’s Place” at the back of the church. Thank you for your generosity! God’s self-revelation. The injunction in the Gospel is to pray for your enemies, bless your persecutors. This is the time to pray for both the oppressed and the oppressors. To pray that we might each find ways to share in the mission of restoring, healing, reconciling, and nurturing the gifts of all. I invite you to join us this season on Mondays at 6 PM in our chapel for evening prayer. We each bring our own intention and all gather in prayer for the living of the Gospel - peace throughout our world. This week you received a letter announcing the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal. We will show the DVD commissioned by the Appeal campaign at community Sunday next weekend. This letter asks your support for the mission of the Archdiocese of Hartford. Of particular note is the funding for Catholic Charities. I ask you to pray about the letter. Allow the Spirit of God to move you to respond in the way most appropriate to your integrity. If then you are able to give, I ask you to consider your situation and give within your means to this Appeal. Are You Separated or Divorced? Our ‘New Life’ Program may be for you. This role is known as a Blood Donor Ambassador. At blood drives hosted primarily during business hours M-F, Ambassadors make sure that donors review important information about the donation process and direct them to a nurse with questions they might have. After community members donate blood, the Ambassador offers them a snack and chats with them as they relax for a bit post-donation. Ambassadors also encourage donors to become volunteers themselves.
