QUALIFICATIONS
Contestants must be residents of East Peoria,
students at East Peoria Community High School,
or alumni of East Peoria Community High School.
Contestant must be single and 16-20 years old.
SPONSOR ENTRY FEE

JUDGING
Contestants will be judged on poise, appearance,
personality, and final question.
AWARDS
Queen will receive a $1,000 college scholarship
plus numerous prizes and gifts.
First and Second Runners-up also receive prizes.
FIRST OFFICIAL DUTY
The Queen, First, and Second Runners-up will ride on
a lighted float in the annual Festival of Lights Parade
on November 22, 2014.

Please send the completed entry form and a check
for $75 from the contestant sponsor to the address
provided. The sponsor may be a business, organization,
or an individual (such as the contestant’s parents).
Judges will evaluate the contestants based on poise,
appearance, personality, and final question. The decision
of the judges is final. The Festival Queen will receive
numerous prizes and gifts, among them a $1,000 college
scholarship. The First and Second Runners-up will
also receive prizes.
All contestants must attend a contestant meeting on
Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at 108 Mabee Avenue,
East Peoria (Teresa Mustain’s house) at 5:00 p.m. At
that time, the contestants will meet one another, learn
more about the pageant requirements, and be
photographed for the East Peoria Times-Courier. During
the pageant, the Festival of Lights Queen contestants
must wear a long gown. Country Bride is offering free
dress rental for contestants. Details will be available at
the contestant meeting. Each contestant will be escorted
by a gentleman of her choice (father, brother, boyfriend,
etc.), and he will be required to wear dress clothes
(suit or sport coat).
The Festival of Lights Queen will represent the city at
several events during her reign, some of which are
listed below. The first and second runners-up will also
be required to attend various events.
• The Queen will distribute trophies at the FOLEPI
River Trail Classic, 10 a.m., November 22, 2014.
• The Queen, First, and Second Runners-up will ride on
a lighted float in the annual Festival of Lights Parade
on November 22, 2014.
• The Queen will kick-off the Thanksgiving holiday at the
“lighting of the wreath” (date TBA).
• The Queen, First, and Second Runners-up will attend
a City Council meeting on December 2, 2014, to thank
the council for its support .
• The Queen, First, and Second Runners-up will work
Winter Wonderland (date TBA).
• The Queen will be a judge in the East Peoria
Beautification Commission’s annual Christmas Splendor
Contest of decorated homes and businesses in East
Peoria (date TBA).
•The Queen will lead the Pledge of Allegiance on July 4,
2015, in Riverfront Park during Red, White, and Boom.
• The 2014 Festival of Lights Queen will have the honor
of crowning the 2015 Queen.
