“Love Lights” Christmas Tree Fundraiser
Kaukauna Community Health Associates
(KCHA) will again sponsor the Love Lights
Christmas Tree Fund raiser at the Kaukauna
Public Library. The cost of each paper bird
ornament hung on the tree in memory/honor
of your loved one or friend is $3.00. Red
paper cardinals represent the living; white
dove ornaments represent deceased loved
ones. If someone is serving, or has served, in the armed
forces, we will honor them with a flag on their ornament;
someone who has battled, or is battling, cancer will have a
pink ribbon attached; a gold star indicates a special person
who has come to your aid in a time of need. Forms are at
the library and at various city businesses. Send requests and
donations to KCHA, PO Box 534, Kaukauna, WI
54130. Ornaments will be on the tree December 5-20. All
proceeds are used in health-related areas in our community
and schools.
Lighting of the Love Lights Tree is Friday, December 5,
at 5:00 pm, with entertainment provided by the Kaukauna
High School Jazz Choir. Take time to enjoy this special
ceremony and make it part of your Advent Season.
A Message from Deacon Bruce…
Do You Love Your Parish?
When we love something in our life, we want
to be connected to it in a special way. It works
that way in a parish, too. One way you can
show care and love for this parish is to become
part of the Pastoral Council. We are accepting
names at this time, so if you know someone
who loves this parish and would do a good job serving in
an advisory role to Fr. Tom, we want to know those names.
Pastoral Council members are Fr. Tom’s eyes and ears,
especially as liaisons to other parish committees. Each
month Fr. Tom and I, along with Council members, discuss
relevant and important issues. Based on those discussions,
Fr. Tom can make informed decisions regarding the parish.
A term on the Pastoral Council is three years. It is not a
decision-making council, but an advisory council. Meetings
are the second Tuesday of the month, with a summer break.
We have good people in this parish, and some of you are
still seeking to become involved. If you love this parish,
Pastoral Council might be the perfect role for you. Right
now, we have a few openings, so we would love to hear
from you, offering your own name or the name of someone
you think might be a good candidate. There are many
exciting things happening in the parish in the upcoming
months and years, so it’s a great time to get on board.
You may submit names to any council member below or
contact me at the rectory (766-3773).

Thanksgiving Day Mass at 10 am on 27th
Every year, people bring their canned and dry
goods on Thanksgiving Day for the Loaves
and Fishes Food Pantry. Thank you so much
for your past generosity. This year, after
Mass, we would ask if you could again help
bring the donations down to the Food Pantry closet at the
foot of the parking lot stairs. That one added step helps so
much. Your donations are greatly appreciated.

say that most of our original group still
wants to go, so please add yourself and a
friend to the group if you would like to

deposit, so it will be a great Christmas gift!
Altar Servers and Bells - Did You Know?
Years ago, when the Mass was said in Latin, people in the
pews would pray their rosaries or other prayers from their
prayer books. At the time of the consecration, as the priest
lifted the host and the chalice, bells would ring so the people
would know something extraordinary was happening. That
was the indicator that they should look up. Plain bread and
wine were being transformed into the precious Body and
Blood of Christ at that exact moment, through the power of
the Holy Spirit. Even though the Mass is now said in
English, those bells mean the same thing. A miracle is
occurring, so look up with the eyes of faith to witness it.

Calling All Knitters
Call the parish office at 766-3773
if you would like to knit prayer
shawls this winter or if you can
donate yarn for shawls. Many of
our veteran knitters are no longer
able to knit, so we hope you will
jump in to keep this special care
ministry alive and well.
NAMI
Help. Hope. Recover.
What is NAMI Fox Valley? We are the local affiliate of
NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Our
mission is to support and empower those affected by
mental illness and provide the vision to live in a stigmafree community and society that supports and promotes
mental health and recovery.
Serving Calumet, Outagamie, Waupaca and northern
Winnebago counties, NAMI Fox Valley works tirelessly
to raise awareness and provide essential educational,
advocacy, outreach and support programs for people
living with mental illness, and their loved ones. Through
the efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, we offer
16 different educational, support and outreach programs
in our community.
Mental illnesses are brain disorders – medical illnesses
like any other. One in four adults – close to 60 million
Americans – experiences a mental health disorder in a
given year. One in 10 children, meanwhile, live with a
serious mental or emotional disorder. Tragically, less
than one-third of adults and one-half of children will
receive the necessary mental health intervention to treat
their disorders.
Sadly, stigma is one of the biggest barriers that prevents
people from seeking treatment. We will no longer allow
mental illness to remain in the shadows where people feel
shamed and blamed for their illness or too embarrassed or
afraid to seek help. As the community's voice on mental
illness, NAMI Fox Valley is steadfast in its commitment
to overcome ignorance through education, and replace
stigma with compassion and understanding.
If you or a loved one is suffering, know that you are not
alone and that NAMI is here to help. If you'd like to help,
we invite you to join us – become a member, supporter or
volunteer. If you'd like to
learn more about mental
illness and all that NAMI
Fox Valley is doing in our
community, invite them
to speak to your civic
group, employees or your
classroom. Help is here.

Are you Growing in Generosity, or Not?
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been
faithful over a little, I will set you over much…”
Matthew 25:21
God expects us to nurture and
develop the gifts He has given us
and then generously give back
with increase. He doesn’t want us
to waste or hoard the gifts He has given us; He expects us
to grow our gifts, use them wisely and be generous with
them. How are you doing in that area?

Cross Parish, please join us for the

of Reflection. There will be a
special keynote speaker, followed
by breakout sessions.
Refreshments will be served. You will be home by noon.
Watch for more details to come.
Each year, Holy Cross Parish and St. Katharine Drexel
Parish take turns hosting. This year, it’s our turn to cross the
bridge. As ministers in the Church, it is important for us to
take time to refresh ourselves and reflect on our ministries.
We hope you will make this a priority on Saturday morning,
December 6. Do something nice for yourself, and come to
enjoy a special morning with your fellow ministers.
Popcorn Ball Factory at SKD
St. Katharine Drexel parishioners are on a roll
making popcorn balls every Monday morning
from 7:30 am to 12:00 noon in the cafeteria at
the St. Mary site. They can always use help, so
stop by if you are able. They appreciate any help.
Call SKD Parish Office at 766-1445 to place your order for
popcorn balls at $7.00 a dozen, or stop anytime at the Parish
Business Office or down in the cafeteria on Monday
mornings before noon. Thanks to all volunteer helpers!
Mass with Anointing of the Sick
Join us for Mass with the Anointing
of the Sick on Tuesday, November
18, at 1:00 pm at Kimberly Church.
Anointing of the Sick is for anyone
whose health is complicated by
aging, sickness, surgery, birth
trauma, marriage difficulties, anxiety, depression or
addictions. Gifts are forgiveness, faith in God’s presence and
inner peace. Touch - through the laying on of hands, and
anointing of the forehand and palms, are a symbol of the
healing presence of the Spirit. Oil of the Infirm symbolizes
inner strengthening. The words of anointing speak to our
hearts:
“Through this holy anointing may the Lord, in his love and
mercy, help you with the grace of the Holy Spirit. May the
Lord, who frees you from sin, save you and raise you up.”
This sacrament is for the living and can be repeated as often
as needed.
