From the Director’s Chair
Happy Holidays from Big Sky Country! What a great Indian Summer we’ve been enjoying. This is a time of thanks and warm fuzzy thoughts for all our artists and patrons.
I cannot find the words to express fully how grateful we are to have you all in our lives.
We move from one project, exhibit, event or program to another and barely catch a
breath; so please never feel neglected. Call us for a reminder or any concern you may
have. This being said please visit more often too. Stop in for our artist receptions, they
are always entertaining with great food and company, not to mention extraordinary art!
Artists be sure to read all the opportunities for you to take advantage of and sign up!
We have learned that we now need to work on the next years’ (2015) Art in the Beartooths immediately after this year (2014). So read below and get ready for the 2015
event. Great surprises in store for all. Please read inside and the insert for all the new
and wonderful happenings and busyness we are up to. Happy Art Trails, Deborah

Our major fundraiser, Art in the Beartooths, continues to grow and gain popularity among our
region’s art patrons every year. The excitement you all bring to the community is so evident
and the money we raise to continue our mission tells us that we are on the right track. As the
event has grown, we’ve gotten lots of questions from you, our artists, about how to get involved. So the event committee has come up with some answers. Here goes:
LIVE AUCTION: To be considered for this part of the fundraiser, please let us know either
by email or by phone NOW! As in the past, if chosen for the Live Auction, you can start and
finish a piece on the event day, finish something already started, or have something already
finished and demonstrate your work during the day. For now, past Signature Artists will be
invited to participate in this part of our fundraiser. All artists chosen for the Live Auction will
need to be here at the event, creating during the day.
SILENT AUCTION: All artist members, whether participating in the Live Auction or not,
are welcome to submit art for the juried Silent Auction every year. All artist members will
get information about the juried process this coming spring. Current and Past Signature Artists who want to participate in the Silent Auction need not submit their work to the jury.
So, let us know if you’d like to be considered for the Live Auction.

IMPORTANT MESSAGES
FROM THE DIRECTOR
A change is coming!
2015 will usher in a significant
change to our membership process that affects you! First, all
dues will be collected in January of each year, starting in
2015. This change will allow
us to plan better as we will
know what our operating funds
will be for the entire year. Second, you will see a dues increase. Rates haven’t risen
since I have been your Director
yet the cost of doing business
for you has risen significantly.
We will prorate your dues for
2015 and let you know how
much that will be. And last,
you will receive a new consignment agreement reflecting this
and a few other changes. Soon,
you will receive a letter explaining the WHY of the changes, all
the details, your 2015 prorated
membership fee, and the new
consignment agreement to sign
and return with your 2015 dues.
If you have questions, please
call us after you’ve had the
chance to read the letter.
GET INVOLVED!
DECEMBER 2014

Thank You loyal members!

rise, dues for our artist members
are going up. Dues will also go
up for all other members. We
have created new categories of
membership levels as noted here:
Individual Member, Family (up
to 8 people), Sponsor, Patron,

believe these changes will help us
continue to provide for you the
very best in arts programming.

HAVE YOUR OWN EXHIBIT
Want to grow your art career? Consider an exhibit of your work with us.
Anyone can apply. We have application guidelines, so just call or stop in anytime. Our Search & Review Committee meets regularly to consider all applications, and they are currently working to fill our Main Gallery in 2016 and
beyond. Planning this far in advance for an exhibit may seem unusual, but we hear from our artists that it does
indeed take this long to get work ready. And if your body of work changes between the application process and
your actual exhibit and you’d like to show something different, Deborah and the S&R Committee can re-evaluate
the new work and help you choose art for the exhibit. Call or stop in...we can even email you the guidelines.
