PREPARATION FOR THE WORD

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT OF CHRIST
INTROIT “For All the Saints”
Suzan Stonely, Liturgist
+OPENING PRAYER (Mother Theresa)
Lord, at the end of our lives, we will not be judged by how many
diplomas we received, how much money we have made or how many
great things we have done. We will be judged by “I was hungry and
you gave me to eat. I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless and you took me in.” May this morning be a moment that we
reflect on these important words. Amen
PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD
STUDY VERSES: Matthew 25:31-46, Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24, Psalm
100 (UMH 821), Ephesians 1:15-23
THE LESSON Matthew 25:31-46
The Sheep and the Goats
31 “When

the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with
him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be
gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from
another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will
put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are
blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for
you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave
me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to
drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and
you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison
and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you
hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing
clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and
go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of
the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who
are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and
you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and
in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or
thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did
not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of
the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to
eternal life.”

PRAYERS FOR THE PEOPLE
Dan Overton, Worship Leader
PRAYERS FOR THE DISTRICT: On this day, we will pray for the overall
fruitful ministry and faithful leadership of Santa Clarita UMC, Ministry Candidates and their Mentors.
THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever.
Amen.

The annual ACTION Community Christmas
Shoppe is almost here! This event brings together volunteers from over 50 area churches to serve 1500+ local low
income families by providing toys for Christmas. The
shoppe is stocked with donations from toy drives such as
ours. It’s not too late to drop a toy or gift in the toy collection box in the narthex! Last day for gift drop-off is December 7 for the Conejo Valley Shoppe being held on December 13 at Newbury Park First Christian Church. We’re
looking in particular for gifts for teenagers. Check out the
toy suggestion list posted on the box itself for gift ideas!
Also, don’t forget to sign up to volunteer at the
Christmas Shoppe itself. You can help guide the shoppers
through the shop, prepare and serve refreshments, wrap
gifts, or help with kids’ activities, amongst other tasks.
You can sign up on-line at http://actionvc.org/christmasshoppe-2014/, or you can contact Janice Kakazu if you
need help signing up or if you have questions (805-4992773), [email protected].
