NEW JERSEY ATHLETIC Conference FOOTBALL PLAYERS OF THE WEEK WEEK ENDING 11/22/14 oFFENSIVE PLAYER of the Week lemar johnson • Morrisville State College Senior • Quarterback • Ossining, NY/Ossining Johnson earns the final NJAC Offensive Player of the Week selection, his seventh of the season, after being named the Most Outstanding Player of the ECAC North Central Bowl. In a 52-41 victory over Utica, he rushed for a collegiate best 210 yards and five touchdowns on the day. The two-time NJAC Offensive Player of the Year also added 118 yards passing and a touchdown in the program’s school-record ninth Division III victory of the year. In his final collegiate contest, he broke three Mustang records on the day, including career rushing yards (2,659), career rushing touchdowns (32) and career points scored (194). Johnson finished the season as the NJAC leader in both pass efficiency (138.7) and total offense (331.2 yards per game). defensive PLAYER of the Week JARED SANCHEZ • rowan University Sophomore • Defensive Back • Hammonton, NJ/Hammonton Sanchez garners the final NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honor after contributing to the Profs defense in a 24-16 NCAA Tournament road defeat at Johns Hopkins. The third different Prof to garner NJAC Defensive Player of the Week honors this season, Sanchez finished the contest with nine total tackles, including four solo stops. He also produced an interception, a pass break-up, and a fumble recovery in the final game of his sophomore campaign. Sanchez finished the season ranked tied for fourth in the NJAC in total passes defended (10). special teams PLAYER of the Week zach drake • Morrisville State College Senior • Kicker • Canastota, NY/Chittenango Drake earns the final NJAC Special Teams Player of the Week honor after helping the Mustangs secure a 52-41 victory over Utica in the ECAC North Central Bowl. In the final game of his collegiate career, he was a perfect 7-of-7 on PAT attempts while adding a 22-yard field goal for a 10 points in the program’s first postseason appearance since becoming a member of NCAA Division III. Drake finished the season ranked tied for fourth in the NJAC in field goals made per game (0.40). OFFENSIVE ROOKIE of the Week tyler cowley • Morrisville State University Freshman • Offensive Line • Brooklyn, NY/Abraham Lincoln Cowley earns the final NJAC Offensive Rookie of the Week selection after contributing to a Morrisville State offensive unit that produced 568 yards of total offense in a 52-41 victory over Utica in the ECAC North Central Bowl. In the first postseason game of his collegiate career, he helped propel the Mustangs to a school-record 450 rushing yards in the program’s first Division III postseason victory. Cowley started 10 games for a Morrisville offense that finished the season as the NJAC leader in both team scoring (37.9 points per game) and total offense (493.3 yards per game). DEFENSIVE ROOKIE of the Week john barillo • Rowan University Freshman • Linebacker • Ventnor, NJ/St. Augustine Prep Barillo earns the final NJAC Defensive Rookie of the Week honor after contributing to the Profs defense in a 24-16 road defeat at Johns Hopkins in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. In the first postseason game of his collegiate career, he tallied seven tackles, including three solo stops. He also garnered a fumble recovery in the final game of his rookie campaign. Barillo finished his first season with 39 tackles and 2.5 tackles for a loss.
