Operating hours this season are 1-6 pm Monday through Friday, and noon to 5 on Saturday and Sunday. Adult swimming only (18 or older) is Wednesdays from 6-8 pm. Admission prices remain the same as last year: daily, student $4.00 (borough resident), $4.50 (others); adult, $5.00 (resident), $5.50 (others). Season passes are also available. Applications for swimming lessons are available at the borough office or the pool. Swim parties can be scheduled at the pool. Helen L. Taubert AUGUST 19, 1922 - MAY 28, 2013 Helen Louise (Shalkowski) Taubert passed away May 28, 2013, in St. Petersburg, Fla. She was born in Coudersport on Aug. 19, 1922, and was the only living member of the family of 13 children born to Anthony and Anna Warren Shalkowski. Helen was a 1940 graduate of Coudersport High School. She married William Taubert on Dec. 3, 1948, and lived a happy, productive life, actively participating in her church and the Eastern Star. Bill passed away in 1959 as a result of an automobile accident. Helen left Coudersport to become a missionary within the Lutheran Church, travelling throughout the U.S. and Africa for more than 20 years. She learned to speak Swahili and cared for and lived among the people in Tanzania until the political atmosphere became unsafe. She returned to the U.S., where she continued missionary work for many years within the Lutheran Church. She retired to St. Petersburg and continued as a Lutheran pastoral volunteer until 2011. Helen had a faithful, strong love for her church, her family and friends. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. A memorial service will be held June 16 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg. Interment will be in Coudersport with a graveside service at a later date. Katherine C. Earle AUGUST 30, 1930 - JUNE 2, 2013 Katherine C. Earle, 82, of Knoxville and formerly of Austin, passed away quietly at her home on Sunday, June 2, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. Born August 30, 1930 in Odin, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Florence (Faucet) Crosby. She retired from Corning Glass, Inc., was an avid bird lover and enjoyed gardening and canning. She married Glenn Earle, Jr. on October 11, 1947 and together they were foster parents to dozens of children. Katherine is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Glenn; her children, Ernest Earle of Knoxville, Sharon (Otto) Deutschlander of Coudersport and David (Mary) Earle of Westfield; her extended family members, Dora Howard, Dawn Bacon of Austin and Debbie Shepard of Port Allegheny; five grandchildren, Glenn and Brad Earle, Harry Deutschlander, Heidi Jackson and David Earle; eight great grandchildren, Sierra, Felisha and Katie Earle, Sierra Nichols, Otto and Owen Deutschlander and Logan and Christine Jackson; her brother, Herbert (Betty) Crosby of Emporium; a sister, Mary Morgan of Wisconsin; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter in law, Francine Earle, and two brothers, Robert and Foster Crosby. Private family services will be held at their convenience. He was born Jan. 30, 1968, in Coudersport, the son of Carl and Linda (Glassmire) Mosch. He served for two years with the U.S. Navy on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN 69 and attended the University of Minnesota. Among survivors are his parents and three brothers. Lois S. Taft Former Coudersport resident Lois S. Taft, 76, of Knoxville, died May 28, 2013, at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital in Wellsboro. She was a native of Corning, N.Y., and a graduate of Knoxville High School. She attended Elmira (N.Y.) Business Institute. In 1959, she married Milton A. Taft, who died in March 2012. Mrs. Taft was employed for 20 years by the Potter County Board of Assistance. She was active with the Daughters of the American Revolution and Order of Eastern Star. Among survivors are two children, Susan Lingeris of Knoxville and Robert Taft of Hermitage, and a sister, Peggy (Mrs. Gene) Kump of Knoxville. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Knoxville. Kenyon Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Joseph Horvath Joseph Horvath, 87, of Bark Shanty Road, Austin, died May 28, 2013. A native of New Jersey, he was an Army veteran of World War II and later worked for the New Jersey Department of Defense. Mr. Horvath received many honors and awards for his service in war and stateside. He was married to the former Irene Hommer, who died in 1996. The Horvaths owned and operated Bark Shanty Farm for many years, where they raised and sold beef cattle. Among survivors three daughters, Sharen (Jay D. Roush) Horvath of Port Allegany, Lorie F. Kuhar of New Jersey and Kim G. (Sgt. Brent) Ingram of Colorado. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Fickinger Funeral Home. Born in Monessen, PA, Bishop Persico was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Greensburg in 1977. Births Eli James Dynda A son, Eli James Dynda, was born April 23, 2013 at Cole Memorial Hospital to Rebecca (Rees) Stuckey and James Dynda Jr. The little boy was born at 8:04 a.m. and weighed eight pounds, four ounces. He was 20 inches long. He joins brothers Gavin (20) and Zane (18) and sisters Jocelyn (21) and Alivia (11 months). Maternal grandparents are Donald and Cindy Rees and Kristy Rees of Austin. Paternal grandparents are James Sr. and Jackie Dynda, also of Austin. Strawberry Fest Coudersport Area Lions Club is hosting a Strawberry Festival on Friday, June 14, from 11 am to 3 pm at the courthouse square. Siebert Kenneth P. “Kenny” Siebert, 60, of Coudersport, formerly of Shinglehouse, died May 31, 2013 in Cole Memorial Hospital after a long illness. Born Feb. 25, 1953 in Myrtle, he was a son of Fred P. and Beatrice M. Reed Siebert. He was formerly married to Donna J. Carr, who survives.
