Zachry Jason Streich
A son, Zachry Jason Streich, was born to Jason and Andrea Furman Streich of Coudersport
on Nov. 2.
The little boy, who weighed eight pounds, 12
ounces, joined a sister, Chelsey (12) and brothers Brady (10), Reilly (eight) and Kelby (three).
Maternal grandparents are Wick and Faye
Furman of Coudersport. Paternal grandfather is
Russ Streich of Coudersport.
Paternal great-grandparents are Jean Streich
of Emporium and Jean McWilliams, also of
Emporium.
Cora ‘Bonnie’ Torrey
Cora Marie “Bonnie” Torrey, 89, of Coneville, died Nov. 1,
2013, in Wayne County (N.Y.) Nursing Home. Born Dec. 18,
1923, in Oswayo, she was a daughter of Edgar E. and Mary Brady Stilson. In 1941 at Oswayo, she married Wayne L. Torrey,
who died in 2000. Among survivors are five sons, Don D. Torrey of Austin, Craig L. Torrey of Andrews Settlement, Dave E.
Torrey of Shinglehouse, Phil E. Torrey of North Rose, N.Y., and
Karl L. Torrey of Coneville. Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home,
Shinglehouse, handled arrangements. Burial was in Rathbone
Cemetery, Coneville. Memorials may be made to Hebron Center
Christian School.
June J. Schnepp
Zander John Hallman
June J. Schnepp, 92, of Clermont, died Nov. 4, 2013, in the
Bradford Manor in Bradford, McKean County. She was born at
Hebron in 1921, a daughter of Alva and Lillie (Dingman) Thompson. In 1944 at Coudersport, PA, she married James W. Schnepp.
Mrs. Schnepp was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She
was a longtime judge of elections for Sergeant Township and
was also a longtime volunteer at Sena Kean Manor of Smethport.
Among survivors are two sons and a brother: William Thompson of Coudersport. Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Home, Smethport,
handled arrangements. Burial was in St. Elizabeth Cemetery,
Smethport. Memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth of Hungary
Church, Smethport.
A little boy, Zander John Hallman, was born
to Breena Jo Simonetti and Steve Hallman on
Nov. 4. The little boy weighed six pounds, 13
ounces and joined a sister Jorgeanna Youngs.
Maternal grandparents are Debra and John
Simonetti of Ulysses; paternal grandparents
are Susan and Colonel Perovich of Ulysses and
Robert Hallman of Bradford.
Bailey Joye Gerhart
Marian J. McGee
Marian J. McGee, 88, of Roulette, died Nov. 5, 2013, in
Lakeview Senior Care Center, Smethport. She was a native of
Bradford, a daughter of Niles Otto and Emid V. (Phillips) Besse.
She grew up in the Turtlepoint area. In 2007 at Coudersport,
she married Jay McGee. Survivors include her husband and a
son, James Wright. Burial was in Annin Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hartle-Tarbox Funeral
Home, Port Allegany.
William E. King
William E. King, 91, of Coneville, died Nov. 5, 2013 in Cole
Memorial Hospital, Coudersport. A native of Youngstown, he
was a son of George S. and Clara B. (Ullrich) King. In 1959
at Punxsutawney, he married Grace Wulfert. He served in the
Coast Guard during World War II and was employed for many
years by Hooker Chemical Company in Niagara Falls, N.Y. He
was a resident of Coneville since 1977. Virgil L. Howard Funeral
Home, Shinglehouse, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was
in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown. Memorials may be
made to the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church.
Francis R. Buechler
Francis R. Buechler Sr., 73, of Galeton, died Nov. 4, 2013,
at his home. A New Jersey native, he worked as a chemist for
Dupont in his home state. Among survivors are his wife of 52
years, the former Barbara Di Giantomasso; three sons, Francis Buechler Jr., and Mark Buechler, both of Rochester, N.Y.,
and John Buechler of Galeton, PA; a daughter, Jaqueline (Mrs.
James) Bohanna, Kansas City, Missouri; and two brothers. Hess
Funeral Home, Galeton, handled arrangements. Burial was in
West Hill Cemetery, Galeton.
‘Books Unlimited’ Tuesday
Coudersport Public Library’s Books Unlimited gala will
be held at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in the Coudersport
Consistory ballrooms and will feature door prizes, raffles,
and auctions intermingled with browsing, socializing, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and desserts.
This event serves as the primary fundraiser for the library.
From 5:30 to 7, attendees will be able to see items that will
be sold to the highest bidders and participate in a silent auction. Afterwards, door prizes will be awarded and auctioneer
Dan Carter will begin calling for bids on items that include
handmade furniture, artwork, prize packages and many others.
Tickets are $30, which includes admission, refreshments
and door prize eligibility.
Mr. & Mrs. Michael Glenn Kurtz
Kari Lyn Karpinski, daughter of Joe and Lisa Karpinski
of Coudersport, Pa, and Michael Glenn Kurtz, son of Mike
and Kay Kurtz of DuBois, Pa, were married on October 26,
2013.
The ceremony was held at St. Luke’s United Church of
Christ in Luthersburg, with Rev. Bob Newell and Rev. John
McConnell officiating the ceremony.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was attended
by Terra Sye as matron of honor with Kaitlyn Karpinski,
Kelsey Karpinski, sisters of the bride; Michelle Ferraro,
Krista McManus, Rachel Pellicano and Kristin Hamilton
as bridesmaids. Luci Ferraro and Sophia Tubbs served as
flower girls.
The best man was Dave Bish with Matt Kurtz, Mark
Kurtz, brothers of the groom; Tim Shick, Matt Hartzfeld,
Ryan Knarr and Tom Misko as the groomsmen.
The aunt of the bride, Judee Clary, gave a reading from the
book of Ecclesiastes while Matt Kurtz, brother of the groom,
gave a reading from the book of Genesis. Providing the music for the ceremony was Bob Clary, uncle of the bride, and
Alyssa Kautz-Fantaskey.
The reception was held at the DuBois Country Club in
DuBois, Pa.
The bride is a graduate of Coudersport High School and a
2009 graduate of Lock Haven University with a Bachelor of
Communications degree. She is employed as the Director of
Fund Development and Community Outreach at Cole Memorial. The groom is a 2000 graduate of DuBois Area High
School and 2004 graduate of Penn State University with a
Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He is the owner of Potter County Beverage.
The bride and groom honeymooned in Montego Bay, Jamaica and reside in Coudersport.
A daughter was born to Joe and Amy Gerhart
of Coudersport on Nov. 5,
2013.
The little girl, named Bailey Joye Gerhart, weighed
seven pounds, 14 ounces
and joined a sister, Elizabeth Grace (two).
Maternal grandparents
are Elisa and Ron Nickel
of Ephrata and Sumner
and Lynda Morrison of
Wellsboro. Maternal greatgrandparents are Sumner
and Elinore Morrison and Richard and Phyllis
Schenk.

Brian Martin of Doylestown, OH. Paternal
great-grandparents are Lorraine Gerhart of
Coudersport, Sally Duffee of Austin and Helen
Snowman of Coudersport.
Avalee Uriel Soto
A daughter, Avalee Uriel Soto, was born to
Morgan Stuart and Francisco Soto of Emporium on Nov. 2. The little girl weighed six
pounds, three ounces and joined siblings, Riley
(four) and Izean Wilkins (10).
Maternal parents are Ken and Jamie Stuart
and Peggy and Gary Heckman, all of Emporium. Maternal great-grandparents are Ethal and
Jack Stuart and George and Diane Sowers, all
of Emporium. Paternal grandmother is Carmen
Soto of New Brunswick, NJ.
Raffle party for band
A ham and turkey raffle party benefiting the Cameron County High School
band’s Project Pearl Harbor will be held
at the Emporium Firehall on Saturday,
Nov. 16. There will be 25 individual
raffles held. Admission is free. Food,
drinks and games will be available. Doors
open at 6 pm and raffles start at 7.
Northwest Savings has donated $2,200 to the Cameron County Community Chest in support of the current

One of the Coudersport area’s most popular people was honored during a 90th birthday celebration
Saturday night at the Genesee Environmental Center. Barbara Heimel was born on Halloween 1923
to noted newspaper publisher William D. Fish and his wife, the former Grace Stevens. A lifelong Coudersport resident, Barb worked for many years as a printer and advertising compositor at the Potter
Enterprise. She has been active in the affairs of the First Presbyterian Church in Coudersport for many
decades and has been a faithful volunteer at Christmas House. Her husband, local grocer and World
War II veteran Joseph Heimel, died in 2004. Saturday’s costume party included dancing, musical tributes, church hymns and testimonials. Barb is shown with the couple’s five children (from left), Steve
