Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, setting
up a historic showdown with Republicans
who intend to rewrite Senate rules to
require a simple majority to confirm Neil
Gorsuch instead of a 60-vote margin. The
coming fight was assured as the Judiciary
Committee voted 11-9, along party lines, to
send Gorsuch’s nomination to the full Senate,
where Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of
Kentucky has vowed he will be confirmed
on Friday. Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware
became the key 41st vote for the Democrats
who said he won’t vote for Gorsuch.

about the blockage of Obama’s nominees
by Republicans. So they pushed through a
rules change lowering the vote threshold on
all nominees except for the Supreme Court
from 60 to a simple majority. At the time,
McConnell warned Democrats the strategy

other side of the aisle, you will regret this,
and you may regret it a lot sooner than you
think.” That “sooner” has now arrived.

WASHINGTON - Obama’s national
security adviser Susan Rice had requested
the identities of Trump associates in raw
intelligence reports on dozens of occasions,
White House lawyers learned last month.
This appears to vindicate Trump’s assertion

It appears that Rice wanted information
on Trump aides, with the expectation that

add Saturday ground deliveries, making one

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court said
yesterday it will decide whether Jordanbased Arab Bank provided material support
to terrorist groups when it helped finance
terror attacks in Israel between 1995 and
2005. Federal appeals court have issued split
rulings. Victims of the attacks allege that the
bank, through the involvement of its New
York branch, knowingly distributed millions
of dollars to finance suicide bombings and
make so-called “martyrdom” payments to
reward the families of Hamas terrorists who
killed civilians.

Subway Bomb Goes off in St.
Petersburg as Putin Visit, 11 Dead
ST. PETERSBURG - A horrific subway
bombing from a homemade device filled with
shrapnel yesterday killed at least 11 people
and injured dozens more, renewing fears of
terrorism in Russia’s biggest cities less than
a year before presidential elections. The
bomb was detonated inside a train during a
hometown visit by President Vladimir Putin.
Footage showed carriage doors blown open,
with bloodied and dazed passengers lying
on the underground platform amid billowing
smoke. Police are hunting for two suspects
they believe were behind the attack, which
they termed a terrorism act. Officials in St.
Petersburg, a city of 5 million people, shut
down the entire subway system. The last
major attack in Russia came more than five
years ago and they were later claimed by
Chechen separatists.
