Page D2 (34) Bucks County Herald February 3, 2011 Dance Elite collects scarves, hats, mittens for charities Students of Dance Elite in Horsham performed "The Shoemaker and the Elves" Dec. 18 in the Moose Lodge in Doylestown. Instead of collecting an admission fee, the school asked for donations of new scarves, mittens and hats. Two performances were held in The Grand Ballroom at the Moose, with 290 items being donated by the audience. In January, Moose Lodge will donate the collected items to the From left, Caroline Clayton, Jamison; Ali Pollock, Ambler; Isabella Luciano, Doylestown; and Annina D'Andrea, Horsham; with scarves, hats and mittens collected during a performance of "The Shoemaker and the Elves" in Doylestown. Tabor Children's House of Doylestown, and Family Service Association of Bucks County. The original production of "The Shoemaker and the Elves" was created by choreographer Delana Blore of Dance Elite and Ivyland composer William Monaghan. With teacher and Broadway veteran Carrie Nelson's assistance, per- formers told the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale of the elves who secretly help a poor cobbler and how he and his wife help the elves in return by giving them warm hats and mittens. It seemed a natural extension of the children's story to "pay it forward" to the community by providing warmth to those in need.
