Noticeboards & Display Cases Engineered in Aluminium

Noticeboards & Display Cases
Engineered in Aluminium
Why use extruded aluminium?
Q. What is it?
A. As implied by the name, the process of extruding
aluminium takes the raw material, aluminium ingot and,
using a combination of heat and pressure, forces the metal
through a die to form long lengths of section or “extrusion”.
The cross-section of an extrusion can be simple or
extremely complex, depending upon its intended purpose.
Q. Why use it?
A. The virtue of extrusion lies in the efficient use of
material which it makes possible. Designers of extrusions
have considerable freedom to place material only where it
is needed, thereby achieving considerable savings in cost
and weight.
Q. What are the other benefits of extrusions?
A. Extrusions are used in a wide variety of applications
not only because of their strength to weight ratio, but also
because of the ability to “design in” features which reduce
or eliminate the need for additional components. In the
case of notice boards for example, channels included
within the design of the back box and doorframe extrusions
provide a suitable location for the necessary weather seal
profiles. In our A-Max range the hinge itself is an extrusion,
and is concealed between the door and back box. Not only
does this eliminate the need for conventional external
hinges, but it also offers a considerable improvement in
the strength of the finished product.
Q. How durable is aluminium?
A. Aluminium is used in a wide range of applications, many
of them architectural, because of its proven durability
and resistance to corrosion. Unlike cast iron and steel,
aluminium does not rust. The anodised finish used as
standard on our boards requires no maintenance other
than occasional wipe over and ensures that it keeps its
good looks for many years.
Why choose Greenbarnes?
When it comes to looking for suppliers of notice boards
and display cases, there is no shortage of choice. Indeed,
if you are looking for boards fabricated in metals, there
are probably more manufacturers in this sector than any
other.
So why should you choose boards supplied by Greenbarnes
Ltd. in preference to those of other suppliers? “The answer,
we believe, lies in our winning combination of price and
quality. Our boards are not the cheapest on the market,
and they are by no means the most expensive. But if you
are looking for a robust product that will give many years of
trouble free service, chances are that many of the cheaper
options will disappoint you in terms of quality.
If you are looking for a product that feels “engineered”
rather than just “put together”, with well considered details
that work, then our boards are for you.”
Mike Barnes
Director Greenbarnes Ltd.

A-Mid Range
Simple, high quality, general purpose display cases
A-Mid cases represent the most recent addition to the
A- family of notice boards and are designed to occupy the
middle ground between the slim and economical A-Min
range and the more highly specified A-Max range. The
emphasis is on simplicity combined with quality.
A choice of 5 sizes, each capable of use in portrait or
landscape format, provides display capacities ranging
from 4 to 21 sheets of A4. The 85mm deep profile
affords a useable internal depth of 45mm. The external
appearance is softened by the gently curved profile of
the door which is glazed with safety acrylic sheet. Doors
on landscape boards are hinged along the bottom edge
and open downwards through 180°. A-Mid boards may
be specified in satin silver anodised or powder-coated
finish with a wide range of options to customise them
to your specific requirements. For details please see
pages 11 & 12.

Bespoke boards
To meet the needs of individual projects, the boards
illustrated elsewhere in this brochure may be used as
the starting point for designing an even more bespoke
solution. Most frequently this takes the form of:
•Custom-sizes - available in A-Min and A-Max ranges
•Multi-bay boards - achieved by combining several boards
with or without other elements
•Notice board/sign panel combinations - suitable for
combining permanent and changeable information
The examples on this page are given as illustrations only. If
you have a project which requires a custom-made solution
please contact us to discuss your requirements and obtain
a quotation.
The Greenbarnes Guarantee

quality of workmanship and materials used.
The guarantee is expressly limited to the replacement of parts and
components for 12 months from the date of despatch and does not cover
the following:
