Phoenix Suitcase Party
The Phoenix Suitcase Party will take place in Scottsdale AirCenter’s private luxury
hangar at Scottsdale Airport. Guests will bring a packed suitcase, walk the red carpet
and enjoy an evening of cocktails, dancing, light appetizers, a silent auction and live
entertainment. At approximately 10 p.m., the evening’s grand prize raffle drawing will
take place.
The grand prize winner and their guest will grab their packed suitcases, board a private
plane and depart immediately for California’s wine country. The winners will enjoy fivestar accommodations and two full-day tours of the wine region before the private jet
returns them to Scottsdale Airport Sunday evening.
Those Phoenix Suitcase Party guests who don’t win the trip to Northern California will
be entered for a chance to win a weekend getaway at a luxurious Northern Arizona
resort.
Net proceeds from the 2013 Phoenix Suitcase Party will benefit Phoenix Children’s
Hospital and the Children in Need Foundation.

Active 20 -30 Club of Phoenix
The Active 20-30 Club of Phoenix #99 has a distinguished
and honored history as one of Arizona’s most prestigious and
active fund raising men’s clubs. Since the club’s inception over
80 years ago, the men of Phoenix #99 have raised millions of
dollars and dedicated thousands of hours to valley children’s
charities. Phoenix #99 continues to dedicate its fundraising to
one of the fastest growing and weakest groups in our fast-paced
society: underprivileged children.
Phoenix #99 was chartered on April 23, 1932, by a group of local businessmen including
Senator Barry Goldwater, Dr. Carlos Craig, Earnest Suggs, Bob Goldwater and Harry
Rosenzweig, Sr. (recent club alumni include well-known Valley residents Ben Rosner
and Barry Goldwater, Jr.). Members of Phoenix #99 were part of the chartering groups
for the Phoenix Boys Club and the Phoenix Thunderbirds. In fact, it is safe to say that
the majority of the service groups in the Valley have had past 20-30 members at their
helm at one time or another. One of the most outstanding events in the Valley today,
the Waste Management Phoenix Open PGA golf tournament got its start in 1932 with
Phoenix #99 members.
Today, the Active 20-30 Club of Phoenix #99 enjoys a roster of the top young
professional men in the Valley. Members meet twice a month to discuss and plan
fundraisers, including the annual Noche de Gourmet, the Phoenix Suitcase Party and
community service projects.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital
Phoenix Children’s Hospital was established in
1978 when members of the Maricopa Pediatric
Society began discussing the need for a kidsonly hospital. Phoenix was the ninth largest
metropolitan area in the country with excellent
health care facilities in some 23 hospitals. But
while most of them offered some type of pediatric care, the pediatricians knew this was
not good enough. A children’s hospital was needed.
Phoenix Children’s Hospital opened within Good Samaritan in 1983 and operated as
an independent hospital there for almost 20 years. Facing steady growth, Phoenix
Children’s purchased a 22-acre site originally occupied by the Phoenix Regional Medical
Center in 1999 to build a free-standing children’s hospital. Phoenix Children’s began
operations as a freestanding, specialized pediatric hospital in May 2002.
Today, Phoenix Children’s is one of the ten largest children’s hospitals in the country
and provides specialty and sub-specialty inpatient, outpatient, trauma, and emergency
care to patients throughout Arizona and other Southwestern states.
Phoenix Children’s offers world-class care in 40 sub-specialty fields of pediatric
medicine and, most recently, has focused the development of its medical programs
to build Centers of Excellence in neonatology, hematology/oncology, neurosciences,
cardiac services, Level 1 trauma, and orthopaedics.
In response to the explosive population growth expected in the metropolitan Phoenix
region over the next decade, Phoenix Children’s recently reached a major milestone in
its history -- officially opening floors four through eight of the new Hospital tower and
bringing aboard more than 40 new doctors and medical staff from St. Joseph’s.
