Mission Statement News We are a community of believers in God as revealed in Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe in the authority of the Bible, the equality of all members, unity in diversity, and the priesthood of all believers. In communion with and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we follow the Way of Jesus the Christ and share the Good News through worship, education, ministries, and missions. As an autonomous Baptist Church, we value our heritage and the freedom it allows us to minister alongside other groups, both Christian and non-Christian. We express our love for all in gratitude for the love God has shown to us. Motherland Pilgrimage April 13-24, 2015 IT IS NOT... uncommon to see a multitude of tour groups in the Holy Land of Israel any time of year. This journey, however, will be a unique experience of this sacred place. I will lead a small group of travelers on the first “Motherland Pilgrimage” of the area. Beginning in Nazareth – the hometown of Mary and the site of the annunciation of Jesus’ birth and continuing to Magdala (home of Mary Magdala), Capernaum (home of Peter’s mother-in-law), Bethany (home of Mary and Martha) and on to Jerusalem – we will explore the life of Jesus through the eyes of the women who were an integral part of Jesus’ life. A PILGRIMAGE... differs from a traditional tour in that it moves at a slower pace, is primarily concerned with spiritual formation rather than absorption of information and encourages participants to heighten their attentiveness to God in each moment of the journey. If you haven’t heard me say it already: THANK YOU for the respite and the opportunity to enjoy a kind of work I don’t normally get to do. I chose to spend the month immersed in a recording project, allowing the songwriter in me to wrestle with some of the hard questions raised by our MidWeek Bible studies in recent years: How is it that the contemporary praise songs we hear on Christian radio reflect so little of the lifetransforming themes and lessons of scripture?
