Mission Statement
News
We are a community of believers in
God as revealed in Jesus Christ as
Lord. We believe in the authority of
the Bible, the equality of all members,
unity in diversity, and the priesthood of
all believers. In communion with and
through the power of the Holy Spirit,
we follow the Way of Jesus the Christ
and share the Good News through
worship, education, ministries, and
missions. As an autonomous Baptist
Church, we value our heritage and the freedom it allows us to minister
alongside other groups, both Christian and non-Christian. We express our
love for all in gratitude for the love God has shown to us.

Rustlings...
I enjoyed the toys
of my childhood.
I’m fully aware
of the advanced
technology required
to run a modern video game,
electric car, remote-controlled
helicopter or smart pad. But I loved
the non-tech toys of my childhood:
Tinker Toys, Etch-a-Sketch, Slinky,
Jacks, Silly Putty, plastic army
men (or cowboys and Indians),
Matchbox Cars, Barrel of Monkeys,
Hot Wheels, Creepy Crawlers and
cap guns. When I see any of these
items, I immediately begin to smile.
I smiled when Juli Morrow,
our preschool minister, told me
about Project Pinwheel. I smiled
because I also like pinwheels –
another good childhood memory.
But more importantly, I smiled
because of Project Pinwheel’s
purpose. Project Pinwheel is a
child abuse prevention campaign
that promotes the little things every
family can do to help keep children
safe and secure. I was a victim of
child abuse and neglect…that’s
a memory I don’t want any other
child to carry.

The Family Effect which serves
new mothers. The Family Effect,

works to reduce addiction as a
leading cause of family collapse

prevented, and a stronger, more
responsible family is created.
Please place the following items

March Stewardship
Participate in Operation
Inasmuch on March 21. Give this
one Saturday morning of your year
to serve others in our community.
In addition, keep giving a monetary
offering each Sunday – when the
offering plates are passed – as
part of your worship. Also, keep
sharing random acts of kindness in
your community. Write one of those
in your church order of worship,
tear it off and place it in the offering
plate. These are ways for all of us
to be the hands and feet of God in
our community.

Deacon Nominating Committee Election
FBC members are requested to submit nominations for the 2015
Deacon Nominating Committee:
• Freda Lark will serve as the 2015 Deacon Nominating Committee chair.
• Nominees for the additional eight Deacon Nominating Committee
members are requested early in the year so the committee can be
formed and begin their work during the summer months.
• In the fall, Deacon Nominating Committee members will contact
Deacon nominees equal to the number of vacancies on the Diaconate as
to their willingness to serve.
• Once the slate of new deacons is complete, it is submitted to the
church for a vote.
• Installation, ordination and service of new deacons are in early January.
Below is a ballot that will be used in submitting recommendations for
the eight positions on the Deacon Nominating Committee. Ballots will
also be available on Sunday morning, March 29. Ballots must be signed
by members. They may be placed in the offering plate or returned to the
church office by Sunday, April 5.
Because the persons on the committee are ineligible to serve again for
two years, do not nominate any of the following: Elaine Barnhill, Ralph
Bouton, Christa Brackin, Arnold Burrell, Bob Cloaninger, Ana Gibbs,
Brandt Gilbert, Doug Girvin, Peggy Good, John Jones, Joan Kellett,
Freda Lark, Laurin McDonald, Harry Shucker, Michael Stogner, Kristy
Way and Reed Wilson.
NOTE: This is not a ballot to nominate Deacons, but a ballot to
nominate members of the Deacon Nominating Committee. Ballots must
be signed.

Greenville County First Steps, is
sponsoring a Project Pinwheel
Awareness Walk on Sunday,
April 12, at 2:00 p.m. We’ll walk
less than a mile from the church
to the Julie Valentine Memorial.
I want to encourage you to go
to our church’s website, click on
Project Pinwheel, register, donate
a minimum of $10 (hey, you get a
t-shirt!) and join me for the walk.
Juli would like at least 50 church
members to join the stroll. Is she
kidding? At least 100 of us should
show up, enjoy a beautiful Spring
afternoon, watch the pinwheels
spin, and insure the protection of
our children.
