Christian Needs Center: Adopt a Family
Food for Faith
St. James Church and St. Joseph Church have participated
for many years in the Adopt-a-Family program sponsored
by the Christian Needs Center. Recently, we received the
following notification and request from the Center:
“…The board of directors wish to refocus on the
mission to feed and clothe the needy of Plymouth
County. This change would be to provide what a
child needs to stay warm - a new coat, new snow
boots or new snow pants.
In addition to these essential cold weather items, each
family will receive a food box including a certificate
to purchase meat. Simply stated, we will be helping
with Christmas NEEDS and moving away from
Christmas
WANTS.! What we are asking of you as a sponsor is
to donate towards the purchase of coats, boots, snow
pants, and meat certificates. The center will then use
these donations to do the purchasing in bulk Our
hope is that we may count on you to again participate
in helping families during a difficult time of year.
Providing warmth to a child in need is an act of
kindness that returns a wonderful feeling to the giver.
We pray you will continue to help us with this
mission.
In response to this request, and in support of the ongoing
mission of the Christian Needs Center, we will be
taking up a second collection for them on Thanksgiving
weekend (November 29/30). Please be as generous with
this request as you have always been with the
“Adopt-a-Family program” in years past.
Christ the King
As the church year reaches its culmination in this Feast of
Christ the King, we are presented with the image of a king
who comes to us where we are at, in order to guide us, to
love us – indeed, to shepherd us. This is not a king who
reigns from a distance and remains aloof. Rather, this is a
king who becomes intimately involved in our lives like a
shepherd. Do we feel lost? Confused? Filled with
doubt? Are we hurting? Stressed? We are assured that
Christ, our humble King, comes to be with us there – we
are never alone.
However, this cannot simply be received with no response
on our part. We must give to others what we receive. If
we are the recipients of the King’s active and
unconditional love for us, then we must give the same to
people around us. In our lives, do we see the people
around us who are hungry? Thirsty? Naked? Sick? In
Prison? Are we able to see the face of Christ the King in
them? Pope Francis models well for us this kind of
response. His natural instinct is to reach out to people, to
be with people, to love people. He does not live life apart
from and above others. He is always in and with people,
especially the needy and poor. So it must be for us.
In the end, the entire church year – indeed the entire life of
the Church – culminates in a simple but profound
concluding command: Love one another as I have loved
you. Our living out of this command is the primary basis
for any final judgment at the end of our lives.
~~Fr. Kevin
St. James Giving Tree: Please note changes!
The tags on our trees this year will be for those who would
like to donate toward meat certificates in the amounts of
$10 or $20 as well as those who would like to give checks
to the Christian Needs Center for $10, $15 or $20 or more if
you’d like. Please place checks/meat certificates in the box
under the tree. All donations need to be collected by Dec.
8. Any questions, call Jeremy Bollin 546-7789.
Our sympathy and prayers to the family of Mary
Weinrich. Mary entered eternal life on Nov. 11,
2014. Mary was the mother of Barb (Tony)
Gunter of All Saints Parish - St. Joseph.
Eternal Rest Grant Unto Her, O Lord
Perpetual Adoration: We have now reached the one year
mark of perpetual adoration in our parish and cluster.
Congratulations to everyone who is involved! I am very
grateful for those people who have committed time each
week to pray with and for the larger community. I firmly
believe that there is great benefit for each of you as individuals, and for all of us as a community. As I pray each
week during my hour of adoration, I am fully conscious of
the fact that I am part of the larger flow of seamless prayer
that is being offered. That amazes me! If you have not
been a regular part of adoration up to this point, please
prayerfully consider joining with us in this important
effort. There are a few openings that could use your help.
Now is the time! Today is the day!
Baptism Class: All parents who are requesting
baptism at All Saints Parish for their first child are
required to go to a baptism class to prepare them for
the celebration and living of this sacrament. These
classes are held whenever there is a fifth Sunday in
the month at 1pm. Therefore, there will be a class on
Sunday, November 30, 12:30pm, in the All SaintsSt. Joseph Church conference room.
Please call the parish office at 546-5223 to
register for this class. (The next class will be held on
Sunday, March 29, at 12.30pm.)

Thanksgiving Day Blessing
Sat
O God of all things in heaven and on earth,
you give all your people in the world the gift of life,
the gift of family, the gift of work, and the gift of rest.
On this, our national day of Thanksgiving,
we turn all our thoughts to you,
from whom all blessings flow.
Bless all our work, our friends,
and our families both near and far.
We humbly ask for the ability to continue our work
for your kingdom
and the ability to gather freely to worship
you without fear.
We ask you to give our years ahead your blessing
and protection.

We ask all this through Christ the Lord,
Amen.
