St. Francis Xavier Catholic School Update
St. Francis Xavier School Lights up the Town!
Our school community celebrated the
upcoming holiday season along with the city
of Medina by taking part in the Holiday Lights
Parade on
November 22nd. St. Francis
Xavier School had an outstanding turnout of teachers,
staff, students, parents and
family members to walk in
the parade on that rather
mild November evening. Fr.
Tony even donned his black
hat and walked along with his
umbrella, which I am certain
helped to keep the rain
away! There are so many
people to thank for all of the hard work that was put into making our St. Francis Xavier display so successful. I have included

Pastor’s Page
This past week, on Wednesday, the seniors club held their
annual Christmas Party at Weymouth Country Club. They had
asked me to do a little presentation on The Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem from my pilgrimage to the Holy Land during the
sabbatical program. I went back through pictures on the ipad
and my camera to show the group. While some were ok, I ended up searching for pictures with google images to get the
cleanest and clearest shots. We were there during the window
and roof restoration project, so there was scaffolding all over
the place and there was not much light. Most of the pictures I
took of the basilica and grotto were dark and hard to see. I also
remembered that I took very few because it was so very congested and loud and people filed through the grotto while we
said mass off to the right at a side altar. It was good to do to
bring back memories.
Much more fond are the memories of our visit to shepherds field, a shrine built in the locale outside Bethlehem, where
sheep are still tended to the present day. It was quiet first thing
in the morning. The sun was still rising and casting beautiful
shadows across the white limestone and the caves beneath the
fields. We visited the Chapel there and walked the fields and
stooped into the caves and could almost imagine the dark night
being illuminated by bright angels announcing to those keeping
watch over their flocks good news of great joy of the birth of the
Messiah. It was a prayerful and Holy place in sharp contrast to
the noisy and chaotic place where we had Mass.
During the business of preparation for Christmas, I pray
that you are able to find some quiet place to pray, settle yourself
and prepare your hear to receive Christ with great welcome!
Have a great week.
